Switching to "Basic Editor" (in User CP > Edit Options, at the bottom).

This was offered by Damien1 Thorne from this forum post: /327/60/329142/1.html.

But that had slipped down (I had to find the answer in JIRA, but thank God there is one!) and wasn't clear from the title that the solution had been found. (By Damien, not by the Lindens, who are apparently oblivious to the problem.)

Rioko Bamaisin figured it out. Damien is just trying to steal the credit, because he's, well, you know, evil.

You should also avoid any words or symbols that might be interpreted as SQL code too, like SELECT or <

Actually, you can use either Basic or Standard -- it is the Enhanced WYSIWYG that is causing the problem.
