Try and turn off the editor in for these forums ot the most basic you can, that seemed to fix it for others.

certain combinations of words, like "from" anywhere after "select" or "<" followed by a non-breaking character, or a host of several other things will prevent a post going through... LL has done this on purpose, apparently because they can't afford to have someone with more than a grade school education secure the forums database against SQL injection attacks... there's a jira on it (3 of them actually) and there is no indication that LL has any want or care to fix the problem, preferring instead to foist some crappy blog software off on us.

I opened a support ticket regarding the 404 posting problem:

Me (June 17):
"I was getting errors SOMETIMES when posting in the forums, but now I am getting the error EVERY time I try to post. The error is:

Not Found

The requested URL /newreply.php was not found on this server."

~~~~~~
Them (June 19):
"Greetings LittleMe,
This was a temporary issue and you should find that you no longer receive this error. However, please re-open and reply to this ticket if the issue remains unresolved and I will address it from there."
~~~~~~~~~
Me (June 20):
"The error still exists and has been pinpointed to happen with EVERY post IF the "Message Editor Interface" in Options is set to "Enhanced Interface". If set to 'Basic Editor' or 'Standard Editor', then there are no posting problems.

This has been confirmed by many people in the forums."

~~~~~~~~~~
Them (June 24):
"Greetings LittleMe,
We are still looking into this issue; however, could you please reply to this ticket as to which browser you are using when this happens? ALSO, please try at least one other browser and let me know what happens with that one as well."
~~~~~~~
Me (June 27):
"I usually use Firefox, but have tried Internet Explorer. Many others in the Forums can confirm this issue -- on a variety of Browsers, including Firefox, Internet Explorer and Chrome.

As my second comment said: "it happens with EVERY post IF the "Message Editor Interface" in Options is set to "Enhanced Interface". If set to 'Basic Editor' or 'Standard Editor', then there are no posting problems. This has been confirmed by many people in the forums.""

~~~~~~~~
Them (June 27):
"Greetings LittleMe,
I have tested posting to the forums following your definition of the issue. I was able to post to the forum successfully and was using the Opera browser. As such, I am going to close this ticket as having been resolved."
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

HAHAHAHAHAH

My latest response:
"Very few people that I talk to on the forums uses Opera. Did you try this using Firefox, Internet Explorer and Chrome?

Go search for all the threads in the last couple of weeks in Resident Answers that talk about this issue. Just because YOU can do it using ONE browser that almost nobody else uses does NOT mean the issues is resolved."

~~~~~~~~~~~
:rolleyes:
LOLWUT???
Are you serious???
You managed to make one successful post using an obscure browser and marked it as "resolved"?
Was your post something meaningful? Or just a simple one-word "test" post?
I am beginning to get a better understanding of why voice, group chats, and just the entire grid in general misbehave so much!
I have found that if I have > or < (Greater than/ Less than - I used escape characters to try to get them in here & followed by gt; and lt;) it will throw the 404 error too.
I found that issue if I do not have a space on both sides of the symbol - if there is a space on both sides, then things seem to work.
Wow - sometimes LL support actually listens. I suggested they search the forums for threads related to the 404 and my support person did -- and admitted that there is an issue for browsers other than Opera (and also thanked me for not posting their name when I posted all the quotes).
Kudos for support following thru and admitting a mistake.
:)
