From: Toy LaFollette OP, contact LL, they would never give you info they have but then it is up to LL to follow up. Doing that you have done all you can. Dont simply not let LL know in the belief they will do nothing. I agree. If they fear something has already happened - this is probably the most the OP could do for them.

How about letting peoples that want to suicide the control of their life, and in the same way, the right to end it?
Always amazed me how selfish peoples are, someone want to suicide and they only think about how THEY will miss the person and how she shouldn't do it.

From: Kallisti Burns A scenario for you to consider... If a resident is a Premie, one would suspect that the billing department of LL have name and address contact details on record. This is to be expected if someone is making a credit card payment for tier on a monthly basis... I have a friend who is indeed Premium registered who has a smallholding on the mainland. They have been subject to severe moodswings of late, and via IM has admitted to self-abuse and contemplating suicide... well - last time we spoke, all and any conversation with them had a definite air of finality above and beyond anything I've had from them before. And now, since the last time we spoke, they've been rather ominously offline. The main issue though is that I have no RL contact details; and despite being close friends for over a year, I don't have an RL name, hometown or ANY identifiable information about them (which, truth be told, I prefer) All I do know is they live alone. My question, I guess, is this: Is any system in place within LL for this eventuality? Can a Linden, on a tip-off, raid the billing info database and alert the authorities - or is there simply nothing that can be done? (Apologies for the nature of this one... I'm prone to panicking...) seems to me that if you really, seriously wanted to help this person, you would fist contact a suicide hotline, and have them contact the authorities and have the authorities contact LL for intervention. if someone wants to end their life, as long as no one else is hurt in the process (physically) then it's really not something you can do beyond suggesting THEY contact a suicide hotline. find the phone number, give it to them, and hope for the best. however, i suspect it is nothing more than false drama, and you're being sucked in. ugh.

So if your child, friend or family member wanted to commit suicide, you would do nothing to try to stop it and/or help them? To me, THAT is selfish.

It's being careless, as in, not caring. We have to pose ourselves the question of who do we think we are to believe we know better than them what they should do of their life.

Always amazed me how selfish peoples are, someone want to suicide and they only think about how THEY will miss the person and how she shouldn't do it. Ewww. Kyrah, that is such a WRONG attitude. I'll grant you, your suggestion is right, IF the person is completely mentally competent. For example, a person might be diagnosed with a terminal illness. They might choose to suicide rather than endure a long period of agony. But those cases are VERY few. By far the majority of those who commit, attempt, or threaten suicide are NOT making a reasoned choice. They are, to put it in layman's terms, nuts. Mentally or emotionally disturbed. Crazy people should not be allowed control of their lives...that's what "incompetent" means. Here's one to think about. A great many suicides, especially among teenagers, are motivated out of a desire for revenge. "Mom and Dad won't let me do X, or go out with Y. I'm going to kill myself. THEN they'll be sorry." The person who reasons this way neglects an important fact. If they succeed, they will not be around to savor their victim's sorrow and remorse. They'll never know. It's clearly not a rational approach to their problem, and they need help, not freedom of choice.
