From: Phil Deakins I don't get it. All I see is a load of for sale signs. What#'s wrong with that?
There is nothing wrong with advertisements, or putting land for sale at extremely high prices. When the two come together, you can get LL to act, but not until. His statement said they were parcels with advertisements that are priced for extortion. At least that's the way I interpreted it. Aki?

Bradley> My take on it is that anything remarkedly above fair market value is priced for extortion. The current owner deliberately put in ugly spinning signs and priced them 5-6+ times FMV immediately after having cut down the full parcel he had bought the night before, which had been a total of 1296sqm, in to a variety of small parcels.
And while I agree advertising from such plots is NOT against TOS when not combined with sale of the land, I *will* say that the majority of lots under 512sqm in that sim are priced far above FMV and hold no legitimate ads whatsoever.
The sad thing is i *want* to believe LL would do the right thing and help clean up the mainland because in theory, I enjoy the freedom not being beholden to a covenant brings. I also believe it is better for the community as a whole. That adfarms continue to exist in this fashion is a detriment to that community, in my opinion.

Selling your land at outrageous prices is not against the TOS. People can do that all they want. Adding ugly spinning signs makes it extortion and against policy though and I'm glad AR'd them. Have your friends AR them as well.

From: Aki Shichiroji ...The current owner deliberately put in ugly spinning signs and priced them 5-6+ times FMV immediately after having cut down the full parcel he had bought the night before, which had been a total of 1296sqm, in to a variety of small parcels. Are you sure it wasn't 1216m2 instead of 1296? Looks like he currently owns 1152 in the Drax sim, so at least one idiot bought some of it--and there's a 64 in the middle owned by one with a well-earned reputation for idiocy. But there's also another 96 in three banlined chunks across the road owned by her rumored alt--dunno how long that's been there. And some other stuff along the sim border on that side. Not obvious arithmetic to get to 1296 with the pieces currently on the board. It's unfortunate that your sim is getting used as a laboratory here, but I'm trying to figure out what these scammers are scheming up for us next. If we can figure out who's still buying what kind of parcels, maybe we can get some hints. I think it's ultimately utterly hopeless for them anyway, but it would be nice if there don't have to be too many "next steps" in the process.

From: Aki Shichiroji Ad farming is alive and well (for the ignorant). So is anything else that has been banned (casinos, sexual ageplay, virtual banks, etc.). This does not mean that participating in such activities won't get you booted or whatever, though. A ban doesn't mean all the problems go away overnight, or even in a month or two. It also doesn't mean that the ban the only thing LL is gonna do about it. Mari

Not obvious arithmetic to get to 1296 with the pieces currently on the board. After the cut, originally there were 13 16s, 3 64s, 2 96s, 1 192, which leaves him with one odd shaped 512 that does not have a for sale sign, but is for sale. Did notice that one sale in the middle. Would not be surprised if these problems persist for a very long time given that individual's involvement. The banlined ones across the street have been there for a couple of weeks. As a slight followup, I happened to be around when I noticed a Linden pop by, stay for a few minutes, and leave. Nothing has been done, and while other folks have reported stuff like this has been removed on sight, no such thing was done here. Should I hold my breath hoping anything further is done?

From: Hugsy Penguin Because if they're in the middle of your land then you have to work around them and that's a pain. Plus you don't know what's going to happen with them. On any given day you may log in to find a nasty ad right in the middle of your land.
They may also be roadside and your trying to sell the plot behind. Some, perhaps a lot of, people won't be interested because they don't know what's going to happen on it.
The more I think about it, the more I can get on-board with the idea of phasing out mainland plots under 512m².
--Hugsy The only problem I see in phasing out the mainland plots under 512m's is if you own a lot and just need a tiny amount to get up to your max allowed for your tier. Example: A friend of mine purchased a 1504m lot and only needed 32m more to get to the 1536 max allowed for his tier. I noticed several 16m lots for sale in the sim for only 157L! He bought and is at 1536m total.
