If you still don't see it, use a pencil and paper and see that a child is only 10 years old *after* his/her 10th whole year of life has elapsed. Start with a child being born on the first day of the first year (that's the year that you would call 0 years old and is actually designated "1";), and see what year has just ended when s/he has been alive for a full decade. What's true for 10 years is true for 100 years, and 1000 and 2000, and you'll realise the the year 2000 was the last one in the previous millenium - not the first in the current millenium. You'll also realise that 2010 is the last year in this decade and not the first one in the next.

Your idea about 2010 only works if there was a year that was designated "0", but there wasn't. It goes straight from 1BC to 1AD - no 0 year in between..

When we track time that tends to starts at 0 though.

When you're born you're 0 years old.
It's been 0 days since this thread got started.
Etc...

It reads wrong to put it like that, but it's still how we count that so would mean that on January 1st 2010, 2010 whole years have passed since the start of the calendar which makes it the start of a new decade in my view :p.

a but the first second is part of the first minute, which is part of the first hour, which is part of that first day.... so you aren't actually counting how much time has elapsed, but during which period it elapsed. same with years... the don't count the total, but what part of the total they'll contain.

it's the difference between being 1yr old, and having already passed your first year....

Land is worth so little it will cost you more in electricity to run the Landbots than the income they would provide.
