Jig, I'm sorry to hear this happened. Like others have said, I don't think you are really in any trouble. I think you may want to move all your stuff to Mature. I think it's too late to get the free ride to Zindra, although you might have qualified for it.

This does prove that LL should make sure these letters are clear and unambiguous. It looks to me like you were not actually suspended (action taken: none) but that they left the appeal process wording attached (which states that you were suspended) and thus rendered the entire email nonsensical.

Don't worry about it now. It was either a warning, or a suspension that was so short you didn't notice it.

If you want to appeal, I'd point out that these were in an art gallery, and you were under the impression that as such, they were okay on PG land. Several Lindens have stated that exceptions would be made for art, museums and education during the Adult Content brown bag meetings.

I'd probably get rid of the PG land and replace it with Mature or Adult land.

Scylla, this is not an attack against you, but this is why you received such a hard time a few months ago in these forums. LL has long tired to get a "Snitch" program going, and there have been groups of puritans who roam the grid looking for things which offend them or that they think violate TOS/CS. There have been groups ARing for everything from banlines, ads, to adult content. One of the many reasons that you will find such open hostility to any kind of "resident government". It will be filled with all the various special interests trying to censor this group or that.

Jig, I wouldn't worry about it. I would as others have said, make sure I keep my art on Mature rated land, though.

One reason to appeal is to try to reduce the credibility of the person who falsely AR'd you, so maybe the next time they try this stunt it won't work as well.

That's assuming you win the appeal, of course, and that LL has any mechanism for recording the fact that they were duped into an inappropriate response. In any normal organization, there would be such a process, and frequent spurious ARs would be a violation, and Resi team members would be measured on their record of gullibility. But this is LL, where "let bygones be bygones" is corollary to the Tao, especially where Linden misjudgment might be implicated.

Jig, as I said in the Cartel group chat last night I"m so sorry this happened to you. I do think you're over reacting though by packing up to leave as though you are being kicked out of SL. Maybe time to move to mature or even Zindra when allowed but I Hope you didn't really 'destroy' your artwork.

Also, may be a good time to say that while some of your threads/postings can be frustrating, I don't like to see you 'defeated', worried and upset, it's just so not your nature, and I am really hating seeing you like that.

You have all offered very kindwords and some really excellent and heartfelt advice. In that sense, the group dynamics is strong an positive.

In a real sense, it's not all of YOU - or Lindens for that matter. It's much to do with me. Our forum reminds me that we are - in a rather heart-wrenching way (for me, at least) - similar to a class of young people in a school. I am NOT disparaging you by saying this. We are exhibiting all those characteristics of intensity that maturing kids display. Although he will go "pshaw!" even Pep has all the traits of a boarding school teacher who I knew only a few years ago.
But authority is also evident in the Linden ToS and in the suspension I received. Maybe it grabbed at my memory and uncovered stuff I have tried to ignore in my ex-sodden brain. In boarding school I received so many suspension notices it wasn't funny. But - in my eyes, at least - they weren't deserved. (Okay TWO were but they were for drinking in my dorm and getting a boy up to my dorm. And I accept those) But the rest were more for my anti-authority and my inability to fit in with a crowd. I never really understood why I didnt fit in. Earrings, tats and clothes were a uniform I "wore" to promote my differences, not in defeiance of my class "mates" but more to state my individual need - for attention? Perhaps. The suspension notice gave my memory a reactive jolt. The old "offended" Jig who can demand attention in her genuine work by force of character and voice was evident. Hissy fits are my specialty.
Art was my escape. My whole being. My desk was crammed with postcards. Pre-raphaelites and all the rest. In real my houses are galleries for my art. My sl homes echoed this. Take away my art - and my assciated memories of when it was put up ad ou take away Jig.
I'll stay on in SL. I may even get my "voice" back. But I wont be the same "Jig". I left that chool when I was just turning 17. Never went back. Never went on to university. Just plunged into the real world. I think you know what I mean.
But thanks everyone. SL means a lot to me. For many strange and unexpected reasons. I wouldnt want you to think I didnt like all of you. I do. I like all of you. Jig.

Hey Chris, s'ok, I'm not taking this as an attack.

Having spoken to Jig about this a bit, I'm pretty sure (as sure as I think it is possible to be in the circs) that this was not what you describe: a sort of vigilante posse of puritans. But I'm interested in the existence of such groups, in part because I fundamentally disagree so strongly with that approach. And really, always have.

The notion of the AR as a sort of "snitch line" to LL is interesting. I think, when abused, it can certainly be that. Just as a crank call to the cops in RL can be.

But the thing I LIKE about the AR system is that it ISN'T top-down: it's self-regulation within the community. I'd FAR rather have residents enforcing community standards than having roaming squads of Lindens looking for stuff to AR.

Of course, the AR system is deeply flawed in other ways; it is completely opaque, for one thing, and dependent entirely for its effectiveness and fairness on the unaccountable members of the G-team. But I still prefer it to a corporate-run posse.

And now, having derailed the thread inadvertently for just a tad, back to our regularly-scheduled drama . . .

My Grandfather used to hang pheasant by the neck until, if he tugged on them, the body detached from the head. Then it was properly "gamey".
Same thing with rabbit and hare, only upside down with the blood collected for the gravy.
And venison. Now I can't eat venison if it isn't properly hung.

Jig I would definitely get on Live Chat or something and find out what the actual record is.

If you have missed one of these, it's possible there were others, and these things tend to add up cumulatively. It would be a good idea to find out.
