SL Censorship?

Coincidence that most of the MOTD threads have been closed? Not only on RA forums but also on XStreet. Only MadamG's thread avoided the cut....then again it's so deeply buried on page 2 of RA.

Comments on the XstreetSL thread about the closures seem to suggest that it's just Standard Operating Procedure over there. And the closed thread here did indeed have some personal nastiness--although it's a bit surprising that any of the participants would complain, it apparently being just an old feud.

"Personal attacks" as the reason for closing the thread here? Didn't notice anything out of the ordinary, apart from those on the Lindens generally for apparent preferential treatment, which I would consider "Impersonal attacks".

Pep (Has seen considerably more personal attacks in the "Forums" thread and that seems still to be open. )

PS IBTL on this thread too!

Easy way to deal with that, is for Moderators to delete offending posts and let the Thread roll? Is that difficult?


Just seems strange that 3 or 4 MOTD threads being culled or closed in the space of a hour or so.....i have seen a hell lot worst in terms of flaming and name calling on some of the other threads. Just read some of the "Bots" threads for starters -lol......man, i was hurling "fire-bombs" over there!"

I would prefer thread locks rather than Lindens quietly editing and removing.

Also, the moderators here can't do that, as they aren't really moderators.

Not a moderator. Res-mods are unable to moderate here. All they can do is lock threads, which isn't exactly moderating.

If res-mods can do that, then they can moderate. Also, if they can do that, then they are crap moderators. But I don't think they can do that, or we'd have seen a lot more of it - when it was really necessary. What they can do is ask the person who posted the post to delete it. That may be what happened.

Actually, it is not totally unusual for a thread that is attacking LL to get closed for whatever reason.

Here's another wait and see what happens. I try not to be a Linden basher but I know they are terrible about informing residents what is going on. There should always be a clear and concise reason placed where the offending message or offending thread is being locked.

I haven't read all the MOTD threads here and on Xstreet.....just seems a strange coincidence!
Was there flaming in all of those threads?

I think there are "former" res-mods that are handling things. Hell, we know Strife officially quit and yet has moderated a couple of times. I don't think we have crap moderators, I think the problem is the moderators have crap supervisors. I know it has to be damn frustrating for the res-mods

One of them could have asked a friendly Linden to remove them. When I think of some of the absolutely nasty posts that have been posted here, I can only believe one of two things:- (1) that resmods can't actually moderate, or (2) that they can, but fail miserably.

Oh, gee, the threads have been back on XstreetSL for a couple hours already, after some censorship of personal spats.

Omg....according to Prok, I'm a European socialist- haha. As far as I'm aware I've always voted for the Conservatives here in the UK.....i think I once voted for the Liberals as a form of protest vote against Maggie Thatcher......so I'm almost a "True Blue".

There is a good blog regarding the possibility of Prok being a Communist! rofl
