Trout himself bandies this about. It's the heart and soul of his highly successful Slut Rating scam. I'd say that I was amazed that so many women line up to send him saucy pictures of themselves (and with no L$200 payment, either)...except that I'm one of them. Why do we do it? Because Trout sends us ratings that make us feel appreciated and cherished.

I have seen several of these solicitations, and I always send them an IM explaining that I am leary of giving my email address to a "researcher" who is anonymous. If the institutional affiliations are true, then please respond to me from an email address that's at least in the university's domain namespace.
I never get any replies to this.
I think people are "researching" how many email addresses you will hand over to them!

Or they'll have you spend those 90-minutes inworld filling out surveys or camping or looking at advertisements, maybe all cleverly disguised as a club. If they actually just wanted images, they only need to go to Flickr or Snapzilla and do a search for Second Life to find all the AV pics they'd ever want. .
