What is Linden Lab's Goal?

In a few months SL will not be what it is now either. In a while dance clubs will be something of the past. Its been dropping in populatity over the past 10 months, and you see more sex clubs, fully populated 24 hours 7 days a money islands etc........

Strife has it right, it's a race for a standard and LL has the most hands on experience.

I've also heard tell that they plan to eventually merge the regular and teen grids - which I hope is just a rumor. But if it isn't, you have to factor that into whatever it is they're trying to do. If underagers are allowed in the pool with the rest, you've gotta know that there will be some serious overhauling of what's allowed onscreen. Which in itself would be a HUGE change for SL.

Hmm and Google may just add the servers to their grid or shut them off too. Goodbye 4 years of content.

Sex clubs are not going to be around long either in the long run. They will become a target soon, that I am sure about. There has been talk of shuting down the teen grid and importing them over here. I don't think they are going to just depend on age verification to keep kids out of things like that. Too risky. Sex is something I hate to say is going to end up getting targeted in SL sooner or later. Its only a matter of time.

Once upon a time when the entire grid was maybe 24 to 36 sims, every prim cost $10L to place out on the land and then weekly a tax was charged for every prim (i'm thinking $1L per prim tax?) that each resident had left out come pay day. Weekly stipends averaged about $3kL or better & bonuses were paid for votes your build got on the voting stations. But simulator resources were first come first served. And most large builds taxes ate up the stipend. Not sure if personal ratings counted at all, yet. That may have come after. LL sold all the land for $1L per sqm.

The changes & growth have been astounding. Philip's dream is still unfolding into reality. The list this thread speaks of is mind boggling for me to even attempt.. it hurts my brain and blows my mind. Makes me smile when I think about being a part of it. Even though I'm mostly unaccounted for these days. hehe

HHAHA many say that if thats the case it will go underground. If they take sex out of the game then where does that leave 65% or more of the users base? I remeber a long time ago oct 2005 town hall meeting ( i think was the time era ) Philip Linden spoke of removing sex from the game. But many laughted. Just like they did with gambling but now look. If they do merge the teen game and the adult game don`t you think it will be more like THERE.COM?

I think that is called "damning with faint praise".

Removing sex and allowing custom created/uplodaded content are functionally incompatable.

They dont have to staff to police it.

Instead sex will be more like the internet is now - plenty of it, but you wont run into USUALLY unless you are looking for it.
