On my new land, it appears there is a Greifing object nearby that likes to send annoying messages. It is the annoying 'Neuro Killer' message:
"Neuro KillerWHO LAUGHS LAST, LAUGHS AT THE REST OF YOUR FUCKING: WHO LAUGHS LAST, LAUGHS AT THE REST OF YOUR FUCKING LIFE HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAWHO LAUGHS LAST, LAUGHS AT THE REST OF YOUR FUCKING LIFE HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAWHO LAUGHS LAST, LAUGHS AT THE REST OF YOUR FUCKING LIFE HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAWHO LAUGHS LAST, LAUGHS AT THE REST OF YOUR FUCKING LIFE HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAWHO LAUGHS LAST, LAUGHS AT THE REST OF YOUR FUCKING LIFE HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAWHO LAUGHS LAST, LAUGHS AT THE REST OF YOUR FUCKING LIFE HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAWHO LAUGHS LAST, LAUGHS AT THE REST OF YOUR FUCKING LIFE HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAWHO LAUGHS LAST, LAUGHS AT THE REST OF YOUR FUCKING LIFE HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAWHO LAUGHS LAST, LAUGHS AT THE REST OF YOUR FUCKING LIFE HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAWHO LAUGHS LAST, LAUGHS AT THE REST OF YOUR FUCKING LIFE HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAWHO LAUGHS LAST, LAUGHS AT THE REST OF YOUR FUCKING LIFE HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAWHO LAUGHS LAST, LAUGHS AT THE REST OF YOUR FUCKING LIFE HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAWHO LAUGHS LAST, LAUGHS AT THE REST OF YOUR FUCKING LIFE HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAWHO LAUGHS LAST, LAUGH"
That is the message it sends. Problem is, that is NOT the name of an object that is around for long, or possibly not even nearby.
Thanks to the fact LLInstantMessage is NOT received by objects, I cannot just have a script tell me the Key or Owner of the object. I have yet to find a way to have a HUD receive IMs and have given up hope on that front.
So what can be done besides crying to LL? I want to know how to solve this myself in the future or at least locate the object. Is there an easy way to see what Key/Owner sent an IM? Is there something I am missing?

Where's it at?
I ought to know this but I don't remember. Maybe the Debug Console messages would indentify the source of the messages.

In Preferences, under the Communications tab, make sure that Send IMs to email is checked. When the spam starts, log out quick - you'll get the owner of the spam object and it's location in email.

From: Sindy Tsure In Preferences, under the Communications tab, make sure that Send IMs to email is checked. When the spam starts, log out quick - you'll get the owner of the spam object and it's location in email. It is only 1 message randomly 1-2 times every 10min. Making it very hard to find. Debug will give info for Avatar IM's but not for Object IM's... Way to make it hard :|

/me nods.. This has been a problem for a while. I don't get why they haven't added an easy way for people to find out who is IM'ing them.

I read in the Jira that the Dale Glass viewer might identify the source of the messages.
I'm installing it now. It's taking its own sweet time about installing.
Sigh, at the site of the problem theres a a goatse porn PN attack.

I updated my existing installation of the Dale Glass viewer.
It did indeed identify the owner of an object I made send IMs to my Blackflag alt.
It also identifies the owner of the particle textures.
Why LL doesn't give us this ability I don't know. At least some of them.
Those who like trying third party viewer should give this one a try.

The information is all there, just need LL to set it up to be displayed. Would make LL's job easier too because then we can report much more accurate information.

Happening again today, but the Dale Glass Viewer also does not log owner, location or key of what is sending the IMs.

As mentioned above, if you send IMs to email, when you are logged out the object IMs will in fact go to email, and the location and owner of the object will be at the bottom of the message.
I wonder ... since inworld object IMs go to chat, would the "object chat" identifier in Mystitool tell you who owns the object? Probably restricted to objects in the sim ... but it wouldn't have to be (llGetObjectDetails?). Have to look that up sometime ...

Slproxy for great justice!
I uploaded a compiled slproxy to http://tooskilled.com/bin/slproxy.zip
Slproxy sits between your viewer and the grid so you can see the incoming and outgoing traffic. After running it, you simply run your viewer of choice with -loginuri http://localhost:8080/ to make it log in to slproxy instead of directly to the grid:
SecondLife.exe -loginuri http://localhost:8080/
After logging in, you issue commands to slproxy using chat (: To log IM's, say:
/log ImprovedInstantMessage
You should get a message in chat saying that says "logging ImprovedInstantMessage." Go about your SL activities, then once you get the offending IM's, look at the slproxy window, where the entire IM is displayed including owner key and object location.

Thanks Day Oh,
I had to go the long route and compile it as the version you posted was crashing on Vista 32Bit..
But I am now awaiting the messages again.
