Hi, I just started an account and I was browsing through the optional communities or whatever when I was creating my account. I clicked "No Thanks" thinking that would take me out so that I could just join the regular world but now find myself in a Japanese speaking world. Is there anyway that I can fix that without creating a completely new account?

Also, I was playing around with the clothes and such. I've "made" new clothes but I can't get the original skirt that she came with off of her. And, is there a way to completely start over from the original character?

Thanks,

Don't worry. SL is global and it's just a matter of using search and teleporting to another place while you're logged in. (^_^)

You'll see a lot of advice for places to go here in the forums. The usual suspects are The Forum Cartel Hangout, The Shelter, NCI, Dreams, Help People Institute, Free Dove, or the dreaded (But I like'em) Welcome Areas and Infohubs. (^_^)y

Welcome to SL, Regan. You are in luck: You don't have to restart anything.

The is only one big world; it is a question where you set your home location. If you don't like the Japanese place, find another one.

Check this thread fora number of helpful pointers: /327/34/309444/1.html

As for the clothes, that is easy: Just look in your inventory (press Ctrl-I to pull up) for the clothes you are wearing and the ones you may wear.

You aren't stuck there. Immy's suggestions are all good. As far as the skirt, open inventory and type "worn" at the top. It will show you everything you are wearing. Find the skirt, right click and chose "take off".

Welcome to the madhouse!

Here's a list of the Community Gateways:
http://wiki.secondlife.com/wiki/Community_Gateway

If you see one you like, click on the blue hyperlink (the name of the community listed under "SLURL";). That will take you to a "SLURL" or Second Life URL page. If you click "teleport now" it will launch the Second Life program and teleport your avatar there.

I'm familiar with the Caledon Oxbridge gateway, and I know you don't have to have joined on signup to use it. In fact anyone can visit there, although the free avatars are restricted to accounts less than 30 days old. They also have dorm rooms (again, for new accounts only) where you can keep things if you like.

All the starter avatar outfits are under "Library" in your inventory. So, if you started out as "Girl Next Door" and wanted that skirt, look for that folder, open it and drag the skirt there onto your avatar.

Before you leave the Japanese start area, look at their freebies. They have a few cool things.

And you can look in your inventory in the library for a landmark folder that contains landmarks for locations that will get you up and running in English.

I forgot where the freebies were, but you should find them after you leave the tutorial area.
