I saw a post on the Employment board of someone who is paying 500-1000 L$ per week for dancers.
This sounds too good to be true, so I have a feeling I am overlooking some of the details here. It sounds like they just stand around dancing, but if that was true, it wouldn't pay so much more than camping, right?
Can someone please give me the 4-1-1 on what being a dancer involves exactly?
Are they paid to bring in visitors? Do they have to mingle with the crowd? What else does the job involve?
Thanks!

They probably mean exotic dancers, meaning you'll be taking your clothes off for cash. The L$500-1000/week, don't forget, is like 4 USD tops. You'll be expected to mainly work for tips, and to chat with the customers, drum up more customers, etc.

I did my best to notice When the call came down the line Up to the platform of surrender I was brought but I was kind And sometimes I get nervous When I see an open door Close your eyes, clear your heart Cut the cord Are we human or are we dancers? My sign is vital, my hands are cold And I'm on my knees looking for the answer Are we human or are we dancers? Pay my respects to grace and virtue Send my condolences to good Give my regards to soul and romance They always did the best they could And so long to devotion You taught me everything I know Wave goodbye, wish me well You've gotta let me go Are we human or are we dancers? My sign is vital, my hands are cold And I'm on my knees looking for the answer Are we human or are we dancers? Will your system be alright When you dream of home tonight? There is no message we're receiving Let me know, is your heart still beating? Are we human or are we dancers? My sign is vital, my hands are cold And I'm on my knees looking for the answer You've gotta let me know Are we human or are we dancers? My sign is vital, my hands are cold And I'm on my knees looking for the answer Are we human or are we dancers? Are we human or are we dancers? Are we human or are we dancers?

I am guessing that it just involves a simple animation.

I am new to this whole "emotes" thing. Is there some sort of guide to help me understand how emotes work and how to perform them?

From: Falkor Scarfould Does that take any experience? Is it something that is easy to learn? I am guessing that it just involves a simple animation. The animations are generally built into the club's dance pole or table top, although you can buy your own for variety. You also have to have a sexy appearance. Good skin, hair, shape, and some passing excuse for clothing. What's important is your chat. Anyone can hop on a poseball and do a sexy dance, but you have to chat with the customers, tease them, titillate them...and chat emote removing an article of clothing if they tip you generously. Like, oh... /me smiles at you, wets her lips, and winks. Reaching behind herself, she unsnaps her red satin bra and slides the straps smoothly off her shoulders. Twirling it a moment in her hand as her hips gyrate to the music, she tosses it into your lap, then blows you a kiss. "Thank you, sweetie!" Not that *I* have ever done anything like that. [EDIT: just put "/me" at the front of your chat phrase, and speak of yourself in the third person. See the above example.]

A lot of dancers make the mistake of relying on animations and canned emotes for tips. Good dancers don't just emote, but they interact with club guests. It's up to you how you want to interact, but a lot of dancers also end up stripping clothes for tips. You don't need experience to be a dancer, but don't expect to make a ton of tips either, unless you have very generous friends who want to stand there and watch your avatar strip. While there are dancers out there who make a fair amount of money, most of them are lucky to make much at all. In the heirarchy of tips, they're at the bottom of the pile. YMMV.

to be a dancer in one of the zillions of clubs out there taking in any dancer you don't need experience as a dancer.. but in some of the clubs you do need experience.. experience with animations and timing, people relations, many 1 on 1 conversations at one time and crowd interaction, slight emoting because emoting come s off as fake most times if over done and a lot more..ii don't want to write it all out or i'll end up filling the page lol i'm not sure how it is now but when i was dancing we were the main income for our club with dancers avg of 4 to 7k per clothing change most nights which was about an hour or two depending..it was rare i didn't have 20k for just the evening and more than 40 if i danced a day set..those days are pretty much gone by now though i am sure hehehehe our dancers had to go though two weeks of classes before we would let a dancer touch our stage..then they had to be assigned a mentor..they couldn't go on stage without a mentor for the first week of being on stage...if they didn't look like they were catching on they had the option to go back to class or we just part our separate ways from what i see now days with bots on poles or huds and green chat in so many places and the word tip and comp used like it means obligation instead of a gratuity..it's no wonder they are at the low end up the money generating.. i've never owned or worked for a club where they were not at the top of the chain.. i guess i got out in time lol seeing a bot on stage tied to a tip jar spewing fake green chat really pisses me off.. there was a time when clubs would have gave a club like that a hard time..

I've been out of the club scene for a while now, but I ran a club for about a year and we hosted a large event every week. I would hire dancers, preferably with experience, but I would give just about any good looking avatar a 1-week trial / audition if she had taken the time and spent the money to produce a drop-dead sexy look. Nothing better than on-the-job training for the finer points of emoting and patron interaction.
I've still got friends in the club biz and when I stop by to see them, I see my biggest pet peeve .... non-interactive dancers. I absolutely hate seeing dancers on a pole, not interacting, just expecting tips for them being there wiggling the mouse and clicking from time to time to keep from showing *away* by their name. If they do manage to get a tip, a canned response with some ASCII art and "thanks hun" .... ARRRRGH !
The clubs have gone downhill. I'm sure there are still some good ones out there. I just haven't been looking.
To answer your question. If you want to be good .... have a good looking avatar, buy 6 sexy outfits that are suited for stripping (by that I mean have lots of parts. jacket, shirt, undershirt, pants, panties .... so you can get tipped for each piece that comes off .... more pieces = more tips before you're naked). Buy your own dances. Make yourself stand out by dancing on the stage, but not locking yourself to a pole.
EMOTE! Above all else ... EMOTE and interact. I could bring in L$20K in just a couple of nights. When I stopped dancing and went to hostess only, tips dropped, but I still flirted and teased enough to get enough tips to make it worth my while.
