Hang out at NCI Kuula. People will help, give you a makeover, some have free AOs, and you can check out the calendar for classes and events where you can "learn the ropes" and win some prize monies if you're creative enough. (^_^)y

Welcome, Edward! 3. If you stick with the skin, hair, shoes etc. that were in your inventory library, you WILL be treated as a newbie wherever you go, even if your join date is 2006. I have many talented and successful friends on SL who wear newbie skin, to them it doesn;t matter they have a certain look, but what they do with their time... You can wear newb if you wanna. and sometiems people are a bit more friendly twords you when you are not one of the beautiful ones... |

I kinda figured that for the most part. But what exactly is the WSE? Only after several operations scammed SL residents out of the equivalent of hundreds of thousands of US dollars did it finally decide to intervene and set forth restrictions on operating purported SL "Banks" and "Investment Funds," but it was very slow on the uptake so "stock exchanges" were allowed to exist for a time and I'm not sure if they ever did anything to put an end to that nonsense or it simply imploded on its own. With that said, please please keep in mind that Linden Lab still maintains a very very hands off policy with regard to other resident to resident business transactions from anything as simple as purchasing an item of clothing to purchasing several entire regions of land. Be wary of fraud. Remember basic rules of common sense. If something sounds too good to be true it probably isn't. Be especially wary of yellow dialogue boxes that appear in your viewer. These are usually debit permission requests from other residents trying to steal any linden dollars you might have in your account and there is no reason why you should ever give debit permissions to your SL account to a stranger. |

A scam. Think Bernard Madoff on a smaller scale. I'm not sure if Linden Lab closed all the loopholes in its rules, but for a time it governed (and to a large extent still governs) Second Life with an extremely hands off attitude when it comes to business transactions between SL residents. As a result it turned a blind eye to what amounted to numerous ponzi schemes posing as SL investment vehicles. Ah ok I got it now thank you! |

i wouldnt recommend sluniverse unless you are really into agreement for the sake of fitting in, or are partial to being e-bullied without any allowed recourse.
Use your web browser's bookmarks or favorites to make a folder of SL related web sites. You could start out with forums.secondlife.com secondlife.com/account wiki.secondlife.com jira.secondlife.com secondlife.com/support secondlife.com/kb sluniverse.com and so on. _____________________

I didn't see this one mentioned.
DON'T GIVE "TAKE MONEY" PERMISSION TO ANY OBJECT YOU ARE GIVEN UNLESS IT COMES FROM A VERY RELIABLE SOURCE. There are a lot of objects out there that will steal any money you have from your account if you give them that permission. A yellow warning tag will appear in the upper right corner of your screen warning you of the danger of doing so. That said, there are legitimate reasons to grant some objects that permission, such as networked or split proceeds vendor systems, tip boxes, etc. Edit: Oh, I missed Dagmar's warning about debit permissions, but it bears repeating. _____________________
