SL survey on SL communication and culture

I was going to say what Damien said, but he already said it better than I probably would have.

So now if I want to give advise I have to make up something...

Maybe one way would be to set up several booths in world at places where a wide cross section of residents are likely to see them.
Give information on your study and why it will be interesting to us all if you can get lots of people to answer your questions. Have something we can click on with a script to open our web browsers to the place where your survey is. And a way we can see what other people are answering and eventually the end results and your conclusions and how this information is being used by your organization.

Naming the organization might help but perhaps you feel that might skew results or something?

I am being careful with mentioning the name of the organisation. Because I want unbiased answers.

I can say it is a non profit organisation which wants to promote intercultural awareness on all levels. From friendships to business and politics.

They want to see whether SL can be a platform for them in order to reach this goal.

Babszy - We have several educational groups that have conducted research on Etopia with some using automated surveys and some using interviews and other methods. Please feel free to im me in world and i can give you the basic info and also point you to the folks who are doing the research...one is affiliated with Tuftsand Brown and the other is for a private company. I would also be happy to show you how they have set up their space and how that works to gain participants for them.

As for the other comments...there are a very large number of universities in SL conducting research and quite a number that also have undergrad and grad programs dealing with everything from commerce in the metaverse to sociology and economics. I have been amazed at the folks i have worked with to help them complete their requirements. They are doing some good work which eventually is published, some on the internet, some in univ assignments and some actually in white papers that are used for corp info. Believe it or not, this medium is being scrutinized by the world in formal settings...LOL

Hi Babzy, forgive a few of the less welcoming types here, it's not their forum.
And if 100 people wanted to propose surveys about SL then SL is one of the best places to do so of course.
I don't seem them complaining about all the hair and womens clothing adverts which outnumber survey threads by 100:1
Try getting keeping a property rental in the top 2 pages, everytime I post one thread about my landcovering all my properties to rent, others post 3 threads.

My how times have changed. In my day thesis research was to get your PhD and belonged to no one other than your adviser (if that). Corporations are sponsoring PhD's now? Or did I misinterpret "thesis"?

(I truly am curious. As an educator of younglings I can offer this to them as hope ... an alternative to PhD research the old fashioned way.)
