I have just been struck by a crazy idea, inspired by this thread on good weekend support: /327/62/224445/1.html.

LL is big on"pats on the back" - cf. the (wretched) love points that they award to each other (actually, I sure do hope they don't do this anymore). However, "appreciation" tokens would be actually meaningful if awarded by customers.

Maybe we should design an utterly absurd trophy and T-shirt and award it to any Linden (or resident ?) who accumulates ... oh, what ... 20? positive votes from different avatars on the forums. The votes would have to be for DOING a SPECIFIC thing - not for popularity.

We could send a funny message to all the outward-facing Lindens that we know of announcing such an award whenever we give it. It would be positive visibility for the forums as well as the individual Lindens.

What do you think?

It sounds like fun to me. I haven't had contact with any Lindens, but I think that the ones who seem to put out a real effort for people should know that they are appreciated for doing that. It's nice to hear something positive, as well. We hear a lot of LL bashing in here, and I know that's the nature of the beast - people complain loudly and appreciate silently. But still, it feels good to hear of someone from LL really taking pride in their job and going above and beyond to help residents.

How would we go about awarding points? Is there like some sort of pollster out there that other people can add to? I would hate for the person running the poll to have to keep adding names all the time...

My first nomination would be for the nice Linden who gave us the Pie Throwers.

I nominate the Linden who has yet to be named who will someday fix the asset server issues and figures out a wat to make SL playable again.

That would be Phil, when he stops being such a tightwad and gets us enterprise-level, scalable databases.

Well I have to give some appreciation to Spike Linden, who has been working on a sim crash issue I have. I shall give him the Honorary Plywood Cube of Appreciation Award. Collect enough and you can build something out of them. :p (but Seriously, Thanks Spike! :D )

And to Guy Linden, who toils away at the Concierge Live Chat, I award the Honorary White Gloves of Default, to keep his typing fingers nimble. (Sorry, they are no mod, so if you don't like white, you're out of luck.) (Keep up the good fight, Guy! :D )

And Lastly, to Phillip Linden, I award a lifetime supply of Flexi-Prim brand hair gel, to keep his 'do' in check. (and yes, I do blame it all on you, rightly so. :p)

I cast one vote each for Trinity and Socrates Linden.

/327/62/224445/1.html

And how about a splendiferously grand and noble statue on the Forum Cartel property, with the winner's name inscribed on the pediment?

Plus, perhaps one of the Roman sims could stage a suitable Triumphal March?

Sure, why not? After all Gene Replacement has a statue, why not a Linden?
