Have you appreciated Trinity Linden and Socrates Linden yet? Probably not, but it's not your fault; they are two of the hardest-working Lindens you never met.
They have been the weekend response Lindens that deal with griefing and sim resets for at least these past two weekends, and I have seen firsthand that they have been doing a terrific job.
The weekend before this one just past Trinity was particularly quick and thoughtful dealing with assaults on several sims - just a great gal, IMO.
This weekend Socrates really showed his stuff on Sunday night. We had a continuation of the heralded major PN grid attack yesterday evening, focused mainly on Linden-operated sims - the sandboxes, Help Island, the Knowledge Center, and on other sims neighboring them. It was a very determined, sophisticated assault, combining particle attacks, noise, viciously racist chat spam - and denial-of-service animation-request spam that stops your typing each time one pops up (like once a second or worse) and makes it almost impossible to file an AR amid the attack.
Fortunately, a group I am aware of, Anti-Griefer Special Operations, bird-dogged the attacks and notified Socrates via IM as the attacks were unfolding. Soc could have fallen back on the file-an-AR-or-a-support-ticket stonewall we have seen from too many Lindens, but he didn't. Instead he spent the evening rushing from sim to sim as they were identified, deleting griefer-objects, resetting sims, and banning identifiable griefer avs. Sandbox Island had to go offline, possibly for technical reasons, but the rest of the attacked sims stayed up and available for use most of the time. It must have been a very disappointing evening for the PNs; their attack was only minimally disruptive. If Sunday night seemed pretty uneventful to you, Socrates (and the AGSO team, I should add, who didn't have to be doing this but chose to) is the major reaason why.
This is a tough job. There are just 10 Lindens on the Response team, meaning it is unlikely there will be more than two on during any given shift throughout the week, with well over 10,000 sims to cover - and often enough one of them will be on lunch or bathroom break. The weekends, for obvious reasons, are the worst. And mostly the front-line Lindens just hear the complaints that there's no Lindens around on the weekends - it is certainly not their fault that the complaints are almost right.
So thank you, Trinity and Socrates, for all you've done for us Residents these past two weekends. Those who know really appreciate you. We only wish we could get a RL copybot over there to LL to clone you.
