I'm a little dismayed by the number of "No" votes.

Does a good third of our number really think that a forum hangout in-world is a bad idea? Pooh on all you party poopers!

Pooh right back atcha! :p

I was one of the "No" votes, although I am not horribly opposed to the idea. I just prefer the original Forum Cartel meeting model, getting together at different people's places. It seemed friendlier and more casual to me. Big organized stuff just isn't my thing, and the informal structure of the group is one of the things I like about it.

Of course I've been busy lately and haven't been to many meetings, so I can hardly complain if those who DO go to meetings want a regular place to hang out together. I'll be talking to Oryx to see how I can help out. :)

My sentiments at first too, but the will of the people will prevail. I'm glad you'll be helping out .

I havent been around long but my belief is it has to do with the growth of SL. As the grid grows and therefore the forums it becomes hard to keep it so casual without being too cliquish. Personally I like the idea of having a place to chill and possibly chat if someone happens to swing by. To me this makes it much less structured rather than the other way around.

A big part of the reason I like the idea of a regular hangout. You can go there when you feel like it, and whoever is there, is there. Or not.

Have to agree dealing iwth land and money and what it should look like is a pain, but it sounds worth it to me - especially since some clearly ok people are willing to take it on.

Valid point.

yeah i was one of the no's as well but I have not been able to attend the get togethers so not big deal. Having a central location wont make me any more or less able. I just liked the idea of everyone being invited to crash each others' digs. It gave them good reason to exist and its always fun holding parties at each others houses. On that note although I can't shoulder anymore expenses I can build and well do things... when time permits which with me its probaly like a huge time to wait so uh i just go with the flow

Biker bars are always fun to make but them i'm a bit impartial. A greasy spoon would also be fun. The only types of builds I find unfun are the pristine septic things cause in all honesty its much easier then making a greasy spoon or biker bar with pop corn and coke spilled on the floor and sounds and have it look decent.

*scratches head*

I have dart boards and a couple other things in my inventory if you wants it just tell me where to plop it. I can even set up a golf course if anyone wants I have all the bits and pieces and can build a mini golf course. If you want to slap a logo on a jacket let me know if I can think of anything else I will post it or send suggestions

I found a person who makes cool grunge type textures she looks new and its the first person I have seen with this type of stuff so well done down to cutouts for garbage men and waiters etc that can be made into bar tenders (the script is easy and food well i have most of what's needed to make most any kind of food.. just never gotten to it..)

I have a few other experimental half done things you might like including a flower field generating engine that's 3/4 built that can be finished easily enough I stopped cause I wanted better flower textures...

All that's up for grabs I have a lot of stuff that i made that i never actually used or had the heart to throw out so just shout at me .. i can empty my pockets..

I haven't been able to make any get-togethers really either, so I think it's a little more likely that I'll run into forum folks if there's a central place. Once we get to know each other a bit inworld, I think maybe there'll be more invites to at least see each other's places, not less.

Oh and can you send me an IM with the name of the person with cool grunge textures? /me loves 'em. When I get my place done (grunge not allowed on this sim!), I want to try to build a grungy alley somewhere.

okay I will send the link she sells some full perms and some for personal use and she has a few interesting scripted items as well in a second location, but I was looking for an ordinary chain link fence and avoid taking photos in real world (people stare at me funny when i photograph a manhole cover..) She had the perfect fence i wanted for this dog kennel among other things that I had not seen ingame. You will find everything you need for a seedy back alley there including old stained matresses and winos :P

I just have to dig her name up :)

Very good points. I admit I am starting to warm up to the idea. :)
