Made a mega prim as a test in an OS and imported it back to SL and it came in as a 10x10. So either I did something wrong or that is how it is lol.

From: Ava Glasgow Slight adjustment to my question: Do any of these transfer body shapes I created? I just played with Emerald, and while it transferred prim sets, it looks like it only does things that can rez inworld. I set up a standalone OpenSim to play with over the weekend too and have been experimenting with these features a little. I was able to transfer full perm shapes with no problem using Emerald's export feature. I rezzed a cube in SecondLife and named it shapes, I then filled it with full perm shapes, right clicked and exported it as normal. Importing into OpenSim brings a box filled with all my shapes. I have not yet determined what types of body parts this works with but have successfully sent full perm eyes over as well using this method. Objects and Scripts and any items of clothing I have tried have not worked for me.

This will definitely save me time.

Exporting a linkset you made is fine and dandy. And if you made the textures then good to go. But you will encounter issues if you take textures (& sculpties) someone else made to another grid without a license. If you are using purchased textures/sculpts you need to check with the IP owner and make sure the license is in order for intergrid transport.
And you will encounter issues with the textures/sculpts anyway since they will not exist on the target grid and even if they did they will not have the same UUID.
We still need an export utility that also exports the texture/sculpt binary data in a complete package. Because this is how content will be sold in the future when intergrid transport becomes reality. Deliver from a website to the customers and they import it themselves. Wherever they want it. Sort of like when you buy content off of renderosity. You get a zip file and then you import the models and textures into your 3D environment of choice that the content is compatible with. Renderosity is doing well in this model. So are the other 3D artist resources.
Then we will have to deal with scripts since that is going to be different languages depending on where you go.

Emerald's linkset export works for me when it is something I made but the backup/mirror feature doesn't do anything at all. What would be really good is a utility that just backs your inventory up for items authorized without having to rez everything. Then go import it all. I guess texture upload fees on the target grid will be an issue. Which is annoying. But in the future there will be texture load from url so that will take care of that as long as you have a web server with the bandwidth to support it all.
