Actually, when I was brand new to SL, there was a problem with a payout of 5 machines, totalling $808L.

The machines owner's transactions showed I was paid. My transaction history didn't show that, but it had said in the chat that I had.

Linden labs did nothing, even though it was obvious to the owner and I there was some kind of hack. They wouldn't even investigate it.
That's not necessarily a hack. Money does get lost this way sometimes where the transaction records on the senders side but does not show up on the recipients side. The money goes to the same place all your socks go whenever you loose one in the laundry dryer.:)

Hi i just want to ask if anyone in here is a member of the Solo Junkies Skybox group cause last night there apparently was someone (don`t know who) who stole large amounts of L$ from the players there that were playing Zyngo at that place.I lost 5000 L$ to this person with my alt avatar.
And a lot of people to i think cause the sim is barely active now.
The operator there is Athena Sterling but she says that she cannot do something about this thief accept place some copybot protection of some kind.
I heard that they could steal textures and stuff but money that is new to me.
And he did a good job at it to cause when you look at your account info at the SL website in transactions it just says that you paid the operator wich is not true ofcourse.
The only thing you could see was a brief flickering on your money balance in the upper right hand of the screen, but who watches that constantly cause you only pay attention to it when the blue dialog comes down right.

But what can be done about this and can i contact Linden Labs about this or do i just bite the dust.

First of all... I can't recall ever speaking to you regarding anything about anyone stealing any money from you... and wtf... "copybot protection?" this makes no since to me why this would effect anything related to the issue at hand.

If someone was stealing your L$, PLEASE file an abuse report with LL, and I would of course bann anyone for trying to pull off scams or what not, but I would need names and more details first...

Anywho....

Please make sure that if your going to start name dropping, that you clarify that I nor the Solo Junkies Skybox was the one whom your saying stole your funds. And if you are trying to imply that I did have something to do with stealing your funds, then all i can say is Proof or STFU...

/me gives Athena a cookie. :)

I wouldn't worry too much. The way the OP reads it seems clear to me that he is not saying you had something to do with any stealing or scam, just that the scammer did whatever he or she did on your land and tried to make it look like the money went to you. I have no idea why the OP would say he spoke with you when he didn't but I take everything people say when they start threads like this with a rather large grain of salt.

OTHER people here began to speculate about your involvement. For them:

/me gives them a day old lutfiske popsicle. :D

This, boys and girls, is why we have the "naming names" rule.

It wasn't copybot - it was banlines that did this.

To be fair, I interpreted the OP's comments as meaning that you had looked into it but could not help - not that you were the guilty party. That's how I read it, anyway.

That is what was said, but then the post went on to say that the transaction history showed the money was paid to the operator - that's the operator of the zingo place. It sounds like an attempt at being a subtle attack.

One thing that did occur to me, but hasn't been mentioned, is the amount that was claimed to be stolen - 5000L. From what I've heard about zingo, that sounds like a typical prize, and I do know of one zingo place where the owner uses an alt to beat people's high scores to try and prevent money being payed out in winnings.

Whatever the reason for the original post, it does seem like an attack rather than truth.

I'll just throw in another vote of support for Athena. She wouldn't be running a scam to take someone's $5000. She doesn't have to. She's got one of the longest running zyngo places on the grid, and it's constantly crowded with players.

In the past few weeks, with all the trouble SL has been having, there have been an increase in the number of refund requests from players that have paid for games that didn't start or payouts that didn't go through. The problem the OP had didn't sound like that was the issue. It's pretty obvious when you pay a game and it doesn't start. It's also pretty obvious when you pay a clear prim that someone has placed over a game, because again, you've paid but the game doesn't start. Either there's a new vulnerability out there, or the story was completely made up.

Ah, I see - I missed that bit of the OP's post; I only speak rudimentary Buffoon at best, and am not so well versed in it's nuances as the OP.

i believe it was the latter of the two options you suppose.

So Zingo games are legal? Isn't it a game of chance when you pay into a game to try to win a pot?

The terms legal and illegal don't really apply here but yes Zyngo games violate Linden Lab's wagering policy. Linden Lab allows them to operate in Second Life because although Linden Lab made the policy broad enough to cover any game of chance for money, it selectively enforces the policy against those games it believes would be recognized under the UIGEA as unlawful internet gambling.

Actually, I was on the team of high scoring beta testers who participated in a testing area to prove that Zyngo involves a measure of skill. This test was done by Aargle Zymurgy himself, and the statistical results cleared Zyngo from being mistakenly labled a game of chance to a game of skill. Several other games were also cleared using the same method of testing.

It was a fine day indeed when the word came down officially from Linden Labs that Zyngo had been cleared and the other games that we'd tested were as well. The party was sweet.
