Land Sells Itself!

I have contacted LL about this ONGOING problem. Land I buy for good deals is being RESOLD without my permission, by setting itself back up for the same price I paid!

What happens is I buy land and when I click the land again, its for sale for the exact price I already paid. The money paid for the land after I bought it is credited to my account. Regardless, I am still losing land to a SL glitch.

Please share your thoughts and comments on this very important matter. I am at wits end how to stop this and it making me shy from land sales since I cannot seem to hold onto it.

its a lot of work to find good lands and have it resold for what you paid.

It's not altogether rare. In the last 2 or 3 days, we've received LL messages to avoid doing transactions, specifically mentioning buying land among other things. You probably tried to buy during one of those periods.

It once happened to me, and the money was taken and passed to the seller, but the land was still for sale. The seller returned it, so all was well. These things happen in SL.

This is happening about 1 out of 8 transactions and has been occurring for the last week. This is a continued problem, not a fluke anymore.

Just trying to get enough information that something might make sense...

How much did you pay for the land.. price per sq/m?

Did a bot or person purchase from you?

How long before it sold again?

various sizes and various prices.

Not sure who bought from me as it was group land with no objects on them. I do not know when they buy it as the funds go into the group before its dispersed amongst group members.

I am surprised this is not happening to others.

OK I been trying to think this through and I cannot understand if its my computer, or my cable connection, why would the land be owned by me after I bought it but set back up for sale for the same price I just paid for it?

I wonder if more people are having this happen but may not realize it yet, or think its just a fluke.

Wasn't this a bug in the Windlight client 75762?, and were you using Windlight?

I misunderstood this earlier. You are saying that you actually owned the land after you bought it? You saw your name/group on it as owner? If that's the case, you could just take it off from being for sale, couldn't you?

does anyone else in the group have the ability to set the land for sale? (if it was deeded, not sure as you said you own it, then you mentioned owned by group)

I'm confused. As Rhaorth just mentioned, the land is owned by you and by the group in different posts. Also, according to the first post, the money is paid into your account when the land is sold, but later it is paid into the group.

You also said that you don't know when the land is sold again (because the money goes into the group), so it must be in your name or the group's name for a while. Just take it off sale. You don't need to sell it if you don't want to. That is unless it doesn't go back up for sale until some time afterwards. But you said "when I click the land again, its for sale ...". Do you mean on the map, or right clicking the land? What do you mean?

If it goes up for sale some time after you bought, and it is owned by the group, then it sounds like someone in the group is putting it up for sale.

Then land is set for sale again...sometimes immediately, sometimes I wait around and check to be sure. Come back and its for sale again for the exact price I bought it for. You can say probably that is lag...but how does it set itself back up for sale after the transaction took place.

but sounds weird as hell, try and grab a linden ingame as they love to see these sort of bugs happening live cause they can`t see it happen with a ticket

I dont think yer crazy lol.. i just buoght a 1024m plot and it was set back to sale immediately.. i stayed to make sure since your post. I could change it back fine tho

Yes! Did just that, been working with a Linden one on one, but she said it is not occurring with other residents. Since it is happening to me often, its driving me nuts. I don't mind waiting around after I buy the land but how do I know the glitch only develops after a couple minutes?

Have you tried taking it off sale?

Before taking it off sale, change the price to L$1000000. Then if it goes back for sale nobody will be likely to buy it. Not a permanent solution but maybe this will help until you get it fixed.

When it goes back to sale immediately - it is owned by you, and for sale by you? Or does it go back to the previous owner and money refunded to you?

I am sorry this is happening to OP. I mean their is lot of strange happenings sometimes but rarely it involves land and transactions. I wonder about this when I use to buy land more,etc.
The good news but not sure if it applies is Linden Labs made a policy bit back that if you lose up to 10000 usd of whatever due their own glitches they will reimburse you.
But this doesn't involved Resident to Resident situations.
One thing I really find annoying about selling Group Land is you can't see who bought the land in your transactions.
I really wish they change how this is done.

When it goes back on sale immediately...or some time thereafter, the group is refunded the money by the new purchaser. Its sets itself back up for sale to the same price.

This is dangerous because imagine this scenario - Your neighbor wants to sell you the land you have coveted for a year, they set it for sale and you instantly buy it. (if land is not below market price, this can be done quickly as bots do not race to land set over market prices). You think you own it, when suddenly someone else comes along and buys it at the same price you paid and marks it up. Meanwhile returning all the neatly arranged prims on the parcel, all because SecondLife glitched and set the land back up for sale without your knowledge.

If the land is set for me to buy specifically, it also will set itself back up for sale set for me to buy again.

The reason I cannot give a time that this occurs is because it has happened frequently and since I did not put anything on the land, and its grouped, I do not know where the land was sold. I just know that the amount is in my group for the amount I paid.

This has happened approximately a dozen times in the last week. LL has been notified of the first 3 via concierge as well as submitting a trouble ticket, however no response yet.

Have you tried calling support by phone? ( if you have then i am sorry i didnt see it in the posting ).

As soon as you buy land, perhaps you could immediately subdivide it? I'm thinking this bug is dependent upon the parcel remaining the exact same size.
