Making wearable poseballs

Hi, fairly new to Secondlife building. Been playing for about 4 or 5 months and I've decided to start making things.

The other day I bought a robot avatar with really big shoulders. My friends thought it would be neat to have a poseball up there on the right shoulder they can sit on and ride me while I'm walking, but I can't for the life of me figure it out. I can rez the part to the ground, rez my poseball, lock them together with the poseball in the perfect spot... but when I go to wear the new creation, the poseball is dead! My friends cannot sit on it and I'm stuck...

Question:

Is there anyway to attach a poseball to a prim and wear it, enabling others to sit and ride you while you walk?

Before the obvious is overlooked, the poseball has full perms while the robot avatar is cop and mod, no trans.

If anyone can help me, it would be greatly appreciated. You can also Friend Request me in world and help me out there.

Sorry - avatars can't sit on other avatars. There's just no way.

What you can do is make a vehicle with several seats to sorta mimic that behavior, though. High-prim (over about 30) vehicles do this. Avatars like dragons that have saddles do this, too.

the thing I want to attach a poseball to isnt an avatar, its a giant shoulder prim that attaches to me. There isn't much difference between 30 prims in the shape of a care with seats for people, and 30 prims you can wear as a shoulder piece, aside from scripts

I want to know how and where to make and put those scripts. I've seen wearable poseballs for sale in xstreet, so I know this is possible. Someone out there has to know.

It's the same thing, though. An avatar can't sit on another avatar or on an attached object.

The things you find on slex are ones that you need to rez on the ground then have both people sit on them - they're basically vehicles. Really. Wish it wasn't true but it is.

Actually, that looks to me like a poseball which is set to "follow" a given avatar. Cute idea, it has a menu that will change your animation to ... approximately ... sit on another avatar in the chosen position. It's the same sort of thing SL pets do, and subject to the same sort of issues: lag causing the position relative to the targeted avatar to vary, and lag-inducing because it has to use a sensor to track the targeted avatar.

Sindy is right, there is no current support for attachable poseballs. Her suggested solution of a vehicle that both avatars sit on is really a better solution because it will maintain the avatar positions relative to each other much better than a sensor follow can. That is what the huds such as Rendezvous do. To find scripts for vehicles, search for threads with "Vehicle" in the title in the scripting tips and scripting library forums.

Ok point taken, but can anyone tell me how to turn my shoulder piece into a vehicle that I drive and one other person sits in, that also doesn't mess with the built in ao?

How about you start with a welcome mat script first? *smiles*

You don't actually turn your shoulder pad into a vehicle. You make a special vehicle that, after you sit on it, communicates with a script you put into your shoulder pad that reports its position relative to the vehicle. The vehicle will then set the sit target for the 2nd avatar to be on the shoulder pad.

Hint: if you post this same question in the scripting tips forum, you might get better answers.

Have fun!

with mlp you can have ppl sit on you and climb on you when youre stationary
but if youre walking around it wont work i think.
but there is a HUD that allows couple walks and hugs and stuff.. maybesomething like that
would work..

MLP stands for "Multi-Love Pose", see /54/48/270890/1.html for the most recent version. eku is right - you can create wearable MLP HUDS that will rez a poseball for each of 2 or 3 avatars. Each avatar's pose can actually be an animation, but you cannot walk or fly because, lol, you are actually SEATED on the poseball!

However, do read about it - that is not the only thread - or ask Lear in PM if he knows of any way it could be tweaked to do what you want.

(p.s. and the HUD eku refers to is the Rendezvous Hud, or one of its clones).

with mystitool you can stand on any avatar you want :) it doesnt use a prim for it either, but its just for fun, we had a huge stack of people once about 15 or so all stacked up using mystitools "stand on av" toy

hippyjim starbrook has an item for sale in his store on etopia called a hippy follow that can prob be adjusted to do what you are looking for. someone sits on it and it follows you all around...i believe it is pretty inexpensive and may actually be free. at least its something to try.
