Benski when you ask for opinions, be aware that some of them might not agree with yours.

You initially made 'THOSE people' labeling kind of statement, which was a bit incendiary IMO. Don't punish yourself by refusing to ask questions...but if you make a 'THOSE people' kind of statement, don't be surprised if someone takes it as an insult.

I do realize that my post was not ehm... tactical.
I have my reasons to not be confronted with the scene. I will do my best to stay clear from that part of SL.

That is all I can say about it.

But again, I did not mean to attack the BDSM community. Just want them to realize that some really really really don't wanna be confronted with that. Like me.

Those that did feel attacked, my sincere appologies.

Ben

No worries, I won't ever place ANY question any longer. NOT worth the trouble. NOT worth the stress, NOT worth the bashing down into the ground.

Thanks for the headage.

Sorry that happened, Benski. Hate to see you not contribute - you have a great optomistic attitude about SL, and all of your contributions in this forum have been very generous...particularly the time period when you were developing free mall space for people, and laying out the plan. Learned a lot following that one.

Hang in there. :)

I do admit my first feeling was close, delete and go.
That is never an answer though. Therefor I posted apologies, a slight explanation (as far as I am willing to post in Open) and call it a day for now.

I don't have any issues with people in that scene, and I do not look down on them. I just have a problem with those that bring it in the open, on my doorstep, sometimes even after many polite remarks that I do not wanna be engaged or confronted with it. Those are the ones I ment.

I am a person that does not force my fantasies or RPs on others. And I only ask the same in return.

By asking me to IM her, with such a remark in her profile, I felt kinda trapped in it. That made me nervous... that made me feel I had no choice but to agree to something I don't want to agree to.

Once more:

My apologies for those remarks that made it sound I was generalizing the community. I did not mean to do so.

But what if the Profile said something like "By IM'ing me you are allowing your IM's to be recorded and used for customer service training or quality assurance." ? It really is the same sort of thing. They were just stating that all conversations were recorded and shared with someone else.

And by having that statement in their profile, they are gaining consent so they are not afoul of the Terms of Service.

I can understand your reluctance on the BSDM part.. when I first came to SL, I was extremely leery and standoffish of it, since I had gotten out of a relationship gone bad in that direction. But with friends and time, I have gotten past that, and pretty much anything in SL is not a problem, because I know if it bothers me, I can avoid it.

To understand some of the heat you got with your wording, you would really need to look at the history in here - there has been some very vocal "Moral Majority" types that have pretty much tried to bash anything and everything consenting adults would do together.

Do you F'ing read anything but your own posts??

You are not being PULLED INTO ANYTHING.

She is not requiring you to jump through ANY hoop or barrier to conversing with her.

What the f**k is so special about what you have to say to her that it bothers you that her Master MAY read it?

How many of us - with out partners - have a customer service issue regarding an item we owned and after contacting the builder, gave your partner the notecard of what the builder said the problem was or how to resolve whatever issue you have?

IT HAPPENS ALL THE TIME.

You are being lame about it because you don't like those type of people. So you start this stupid thread, proclaim you don't think HIGHLY of them and that you don't want to be pulled into their RP - BUT NO ONE IS RPING WITH YOU DUHHHHHHHHHHHHHH.

All you have to do is talk to her. Not call her girl, not have her tower before you, not leash her, not ask her Master if you can talk to her, or anything.

Open the goddamn profile, send her an IM and fix the problem since she purchased your crap.

And no i am not reading your stupid Private Mesasge, i am going to delete it without seeing it. Why? Because i know you don't think highly of ME or people like ME who are in the D/s community in SL.

I guess you would really hate me if i was a Mistress because I AM DUTCH AND GERMAN and that would be like me channeling my Dutch slaver roots, thus making me a real slave owner in SL.

Yea, i AM going to do something about this.

In fact. I am going to right now.

Ugh.

I have already come a long way in that. I do no longer autoban people that are leeched on my sim. Even though that is the one place I 'should' be able to run from it.

My concern also had to do with the fact that if people request me to contact them, and state such "rules" in their profile that I don't wish to agree with, how to let them know without actually doing something that makes me automaticly agree to their terms?

It's a contraverse, I know.

Translation = "You have no problem with it as long as you don't see it."

Lots of prejudice people use that rationalization to justify their prejudices.

And get off that damn "they are pulling me into their RP" wagon.

No one is asking you to RP with them, simply accept that one other PERSON may read what your customer service response is. BIG FREAKING DEAL.

So you used to BAN people that were collared and leashed on your sim.

The only reason you probably stopped is so that you could get their money.

Yea, that is cool, way cool.

I guess i should ban all idiots who run around wrapped in leather and spikes and wielding swords.

You are not getting any reply here in Open about any of the reasons.
You refused to read my PM and therefor missed a tiny little part of info that might make it understand a little bit better.

It's already a done deal since nothing I will post here can in any way stop your overly agressive attacks towards me. Therefor I requested this subject to be closed.

Bye

I'd send her Master a notecard expressing My displeasure that she dared contact Me directly, and advise he keep his pet on a shorter leash.

...the trick is to outplay them at their own game.
I like this approach. If someone is going to try to pull me in to their RPing, then it should be done completely correct.

This would actually work.

but then that WOULD be participating in the RP, whereas just answering her customer service issues is not.

The problem is solved without any further IM exchange.

Done.
