My sl mom met a guy from Sweden. Unfortunately they shared each other's passwords (not a bright idea, I know). They got engaged on SL & all that, but my sl mom's rl internet got turned off & shes not using the internet anymore. But he is using her account & her av for sick things. Can I report him or is it a lost cause? If I have a good cause for reporting him, how can I?

Yep, report and LL will be able to verify who has been using the account (IP address etc) and change the password if necessary.

This makes me laugh, really. This is EXACTLY why LL really BEGS you not SHARE passwords. They do everthing to keep your password safe, website protection, SLX protections, even Lindens dont ask you for your password..
So the ONLY person that can blow it up is you. I'd say, make a new account (terminate the old one or so) and learn a lesson from this.

The OP asked how to report this. Go in world, at the top of screen select Help > Report Abuse. Sharing account password is against the TOS and will result in action by LL.

LL will only take action if its reported by the party with the original acct. and the action will also include the owner of the acct for giving out the password.

OP:
If your mom can't get on the internet, you do it for her.
1. Log on to her account. CHANGE THE PASSWORD. Now. Immediately. 2. Transfer any money and transferable items to another account. Yours, probably. 3. Sell or transfer any land holdings. 4. Set the account for deletion.
Then, and only if you and your mom choose,
5. Submit an Abuse Report against the Swedish Meatball.

It's really important to get in and change her password right away and try and secure things before it goes too far (which clearly it has) and then.....put the swedish meatball down the garbage disposal.

One other thing...
You might try to access the account, and find the Swedish Meatball has anticipated you and already changed the password.
In this case, submit an AR, AND a support ticket, immediately. I recommend calling LL's support number. Describe the situation and ask that the account be suspended.

Logging into her account and changing the password, transferring money and items to another account (even the OP's account), selling or transfering land holding, and setting the account for deletion all are absolutely against LL's ToS. And further, it's out and out theft of property. Perhaps I missed something and the OP and this SL Mom are one in the same........but it sure doesn't read like that to me. Just AR the Swedish meatball........that's all one can do for anyone who was so dumb to give out that kind of information.

Cant your SL mum go to a public Computer and cancel her account if its not to late? As for you doing anything do you have proof for LL that this person is another person and not just her doing it herself. Your word against his is not going to work> Another point to not share passwords is it gives the person access to you accounts money so if you have CC details that person has access to your money

It might still be OK for the victim to let her "sl kid" do this for her, but really, that's just repeating the original mistake. The victim should do this herself. Get to a computer with web access and just do it.

You (OP) cannot do a damn thing about this. Only the real holder of the account can file an abuse, or phone LL about it. If you (OP) file an AR, it will be ingnored completely, because of privacy laws. YOU are not the owner of the account, so you are no party in this. You don't know what has been agreed between the swedish guy and your sl mom (maybe she gave it to him?). Besides, when giving passwords, the risk is completely in the hands of the giver. If it gets abused is the risk involved, and the giver is the only one to blame for that. Responsibility for own actions, so to say. And since this has been done on free will, an AR won't solve anything. If it was stolen, or not given by free will (needs to be proven), then she has a chance of having her account back, through an AR/Support request. But, since she has left sl for good, she has no interrest in the account anymore, clearly.

From: say Moo You don't know what has been agreed between the swedish guy and your sl mom (maybe she gave it to him?). Or maybe she IS him. Stranger alt-based dramas have happened. In any case it's only the person with the stolen account that can do anything useful about it, and she could even with her supposed loss of internet service. My advice to the OP is to mute the avatars in question and move on.

If the PW has been changed by the guy stealing the account it should be recoverable by clicking the "forgot your password?" link. Side issue - does the fact that this person is Swedish have anything AT ALL to do with what they have done?

From: say Moo You don't know what has been agreed between the swedish guy and your sl mom (maybe she gave it to him?). Agreed with your post, just wanted to add: If the account holder did give her account to anyone else knowingly letting them use it, they are in violation of LL TOS themselves.

From: Argent Stonecutter It makes for better puns. Bork de bork bork bork. I don't know who the person on the picture is, but you quote ("bork" the Danish cook from Muppet Show. Denmark, a different country, may look Swedish from a big distance. If I would steal a password, I would imediately change it. So the first thing to do is to execute the "I lost my password" procedure.. I guess it's too if he had not already changed the e-mail connection. Yes, only the account owner can report it, otherwise you could steal or close anybody's account just with a little help from Lindens. I assume she has no bank account info on file?

However, in Sweden he is still Swedish." http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Swedish_ChefThe picture's a ferret muppet.
