IF this forum disappears (as is) and becomes something else entirely, will you follow it or move to some other 3rd party forum?

Probably go to a 3rd party forum, where I can continue to associate with the people that I've become friendly with. Most of these people are helpful, full of knowledge and pleasant to deal with. A board started by these individuals would be a most welcome place to be.

But that is only if this forum becomes something completely different than it is now. I think part of a forums job is to form bonds between people, of all types. It is also to stay on track of the topics of the board. I'm on several other boards in areas that I'm interested in; gardening, cooking, etc. that stay entirely on subject. There is no fighting on these boards, no asshats and the bad moments are dealt with swiftly by very good moderators keeping up on their jobs. There is no B.S. tolerated towards other members, none at all. Dare to call a name, threaten, use the board to puff up your own ego and you're out of there in a heartbeat.

What this place needs is better moderation, NOT an overhaul per se. If we could get that in place, I believe we'd be fine.

Having said all that, I'll also take some pie. Key lime please :)

I didn't know there was an XStreet forum before yesterday, I haven't looked at it, so I don't know if I would visit a merged forum. I'm not likely to use a Yahoo Answers thingie, from what I've seen I don't like them. I'd still probably visit SLU, but I don't think I would start over at a new forum.

They sound *really* boring. So is the Xstreet one, Brenda.

Sure there is....an Ignore button. Maybe when you grow up into a big wanker, you will inspire people to use it.But right now you just provide amusement. Thank You.

The new Mr. Miles is just not around much to be noticed a lot actually. A couple of odd posts at first but easily passed over, the posts I mean, not being familiar yet with him as a regular poster.

I haven't been here as much lately as I had been- seems the Thread gets rather slow at times and as far as the regula RA stuff, others answer so no need for me to throw in the same thing just rehashed if I have nothing to offer. Had one question recently but no response as yet to it... and in the animation thread I am watching to see if anything new comes up with Animeplee - othewise..meh I guess, though of course I would try and keep up in the new place. Never really fell into SLU and now that trollish thread about forums that got started.

Feeling some what ho-hum in general today.

Undecided. Which basically means "go with the flow" I guess.

But I dispute the premise. It seems vanishingly unlikely to me that they'll just wipe the official Forums completely now. I could see them merging in the XSSLXIV forums here, just because it's less work than keeping two forums software updated ( :twitch: ) and easier than migrating a multi-year archive of all the content creation forums from here.

Is the Xstreet forum privately run? Or does LL "moderate" that one too?

I notice they said they weren't allowed to swear over there, so it was privately moderated, but now . . .

Pep ( . . . I presume, like here, it is *supposed* to be modded by LL)

I'd probably emigrate over to SLU. Quite a few of my friends from here are over there already.

Already done this once. What will happen is that a whole bunch of people will start new forums, most of which will not survive. One will emerge as the most popular and draw the most former users, who will continue merrily along just like they did on this forum. There will be some hurt feelings, but in the end it will all work out well. The "support" forums and content creation forums will continue to attract those people who have a genuine desire to help. Eventually, the collar will loosen a bit and the new support forums will become more social again as new people arrive who have no connection to the old forums.

Personally, all I think this forum needs is a serious housecleaning to get rid of aging stickies, do a better job with making the existing stickies more informative (such as cleaning up broken links) and re-ordering them to make things more logical. Plus, just a tad more moderation.

Even the slightest things can make me go or stay from a forum. It's really hard to say.

There is a sort of vibe to a place. If I don't like the vibe, I have a tend to just look at it less and less until one day I realise it's been years.

Have been that way since 1985 or so with BBS's, and all the way up to now.

I'd go to SLU. I've peeked in there a time or two and like them. I'll bring Brenda with me, kicking and screaming because I can't imagine a forum without her.

No need for the drama.

Just doing my part to make your trip today as enjoyable as possible. Since I can't be at the nuptuals, it is my gift to you.
