I should probably have been more clear in saying that the main focus of the campus is educational/informational in direct connection to the actual university.
Awwwww! No togas? :(

Oh hey you know what would get students onto your campus? Live music. There's LOADS of live music across the grid; if you could get some local bands to play on your campus, students could attend the shows while "doing their homework" in their RL dormrooms.

I have visited a few "Universities" here in SL even one from my state the thing that bugged me was no one was there. It was a ghost town so to speak.

For me yes the buildings were nice and even looked like part of the campus of the school that I attended but no people :(

In one part of the building was called student porjects over the door but nothing there. Checked and the building had been made quite some time ago so figured there should be something there right?

Just my take

Bec

Indeed. A virtual university needs real students.

I would take whateve is unique or remarkable about the particular university and recreate it. Most have something they are famous for. Maybe it's library. Or it's chapel. Or it's stadium. Perhaps it has a museum or observatory. Whatever it is, use that to get people to visit, especially people who aren't necessarily persuing education in SL. Hold events, general interest classes, historical displays, whatever. I don't think SL is ready yet for any real fuctional school yet, still too many problems. This may be a way to keep the place from being a ghost town until it is.

Make it a UN of Knowledge. Invite a series of worldclass scholars to give public lectures in SL on their specialties, with translations laid on and transcripts available. Design courses to follow up the initial stimuli.

Did you check the local bars, though?

I would seriously like to see classes that take place in RL, such as history and politics. More specifically, about European and LGBT History. Also, about world politics and political systems. Yes, I know, I'm a dork, but still.
