Yes, the clothing market on SL is HUGE, and because there's no deterioration, there's no need to replace clothing, therefore, anyone who came after the "Big names" is a nobody..I know.I've been struggling for almost a year now trying to get my name out there and it isn't easy. I would think smart content creators (not me of course, cause I'm stubborn) would want to go somewhere that has little industry, so they can be big fish in a little pond, not just another primskirt maker in a group of hundreds of thousands of "clothing designers"

The question is: is the Second Life grid the "AOL" of the burgeoning metaverse, or is it the Google. It's far too early to say but right now, undisputably it's waaaay out front. My guess is that it's the AOL of the new industry, to be honest. I agree this is a possibility. _____________________

Fwiw, when Rosedale referred to "network effects", I believe he's referring to the value of the social network as well as content quantity. People join LinkedIn or Facebook (nearly mutually exclusive virtual communities) because the type of people they want to contact are there.
He is in good company, "network effects" being largely cited as a major driver behind the growth of the internet (Metcalfe's Law): http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Metcalfe's_law and, for the term "network effects": http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Network_effect . |

yet WoW is stable with 3xs the customer base..... ![]() Wow doesn't have an asset server clogged by 5000 copies of the same texture and half a million similar 10mx10m prims. Or make you download the same red brick wall texture everyday. And I thought Campbots, copybots and traffic bots WERE SL? _____________________

I would say that quote demonstrates an unprecedented level of cluelessness on so many fronts, it would be laughable if it wasn't so pathetic. Problem is, it isn't unprecedented. ![]() [[[insert robotic laughing sample here]]] _____________________
