A club with live progressive rock and uptempo classical like the Brandenburg Concertos would be very nice.

Ok I'll bite since there's nothing much else to reply to lol

Firstly I'm not a big club goer in SL.... but what does appeal to me, I'll use as a base for my response....

Expect? Hard to say...good music and fun venues...variety of themes for example instead of the same old 'angels & devils' or 'black and white' or 'formal' *gag* 'best in jeans' please...what's the point....

Like to see? Something unique, well designed, realism, ambiance... seperate lounge areas apart from dance floors....what a real club might have....

Not like to see? Adds mucking up the walls.... shops making it look like a mall.....

What types? Personally I like Blues and more relaxed settings... abit gritty, yet comfortable.

Themes? Oh I could give you tons that would be fun...but things that force people to be creative...like, movie character night, or 'big top' night (lots of potential in a circus theme) Just more creative ideas over all.....Oh or did you mean the club itself....hmmm... too many ideas come to mind....but what matters is that it's done well.... design & function.

Music? That's subjective isn't it...ya can't please everyone, so you may as well go with a music venue that suits the club style iteself. People will come.

Event payouts? The only thing I ever attend is themed parties because I love coming up with creative costumes.....so vote based contests. All the rest doesn't interest me.

Shops? *gag* None honestly... it's a club not a mall.....if there must be vender's to help with land fees.... then do cool kiosks outside the club that fit with the over all theme. I've seen some neat looking vender carts.... something that flows with the motif.

Next question is redundent.... I don't care what is being sold as long as it's tastefully done and the spaces fit the theme od the sim or area. I don't go to a club to shop....therefor what is being sold hardly matters. But, the right vender area will draw people in.

Don't know if that helps....but I think they kay is to come up with a concept, and stick with it through out the build. So many otherwise nice places are defaced by vender areas that look tacky and thrown together.

ooo and a total ban on xcite, butt slappers and the WOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO thing...and over zealous hosts/hostesses who keep *reminding* you to tip everything bar the club kitten...that would be great

Is there anything new the other 1000 clubs (mostly empty) in SL aren't doing? Those that can't do, do clubs I suppose. My best advice is to be kind to your mainland neighbors and get a private island for a club. Clubs can really trash a sims performance especially when it is shared by many land owners.

I like lively clubs. Where people have fun with each other and chat in the open to everyone...........not to just few of the cliques that plague most clubs in SL. As for themes.........any will do if it's more or less consistant. If it's a rock club, for example, a picture of Frank Sinatra is more than just a little out of place.

The best club I know of in SL is Tropics. It's not fancy but well done and is nothing but a place to come and have fun. Live musicians every Friday and Saturday (many very popular but many are new...........soon to be popular). Wednesday and Thursday, it's a live DJ taking requests on most any style of music. The "shows" are consistantly 2 hours long starting at the same time (5pm SL time). No hawking to tip tip tip!!! There is only one hostess (the owner) and the co-owner are almost always there for the duration.........with huge thank yous for anyone coming and going. There are contests for the two live DJ nights.......posted via notecard to members of the group on Tuesday.

That's it..........nothing fancy or extravagant. Simple fun with a good natured atmosphere 4 nights a week. That is, in my opinion, what makes a great club. Not good.......GREAT.

What Do You Like To See In A Club? dance floor, places to sit with several people and talk, music (duh)

What Do You Not Like To See? tired of all these glammer and ad-ons people bring that slow things down, when you get an attendance of 25 people and it starts to lag, get rid of the blings and special effects, if the place looks good, you don't need them and if people think the bling is what makes them attractive, then they arent really talking and getting to know people

What Themes Do You Like To See? well depends on what Im dancing, I favor the Sphinx for jazz, liked the Amore for rock with a ballroom twist until they changed, now Shiraz, To meet people I would say Phats or Cartel Hangout.
My most common hand out is Cartel, it has a friendly bar theme and is open to meeting and dancing and talking to people. Shiraz however has events nearly all week long, Trivia, good music and regulars you can usually count on picking up a dance partner if you don' thave one coming in

What Music Styles? as long as the music plays for more than 90% of the time without tipping ads and see our shops or other ads, its good

What Event Pay Outs Do You Like? Trivia, best (dressed, costume, avatar)

What Shops Do You Like To See In A Club? Clothing suitable for the music/ genre, accessories, if it has furniture or stuff for your home it should be stuff you see in the club, or a small satalite shop

I like to see about 20 or so people who are consciously aware of what they are wearing and how that affects lag. Any more than that and it will be laggy no matter what. I also like a good original architectural design for the club. I expect a free flow of conversation. If there's too little, the employees should encourage it, if too much they should control it.

I really don't like seeing 5 people in a row dancing the same freebie dance in perfect sync. It feels like they are camping even if they are not.

I like live music clubs or ones with live DJs that play a good variety of songs.

I like themed places. Whatever theme you want to use if you do it very well I will appreciate it.

I'd say keep them out of the way of the club so they don't add to the lag. How about this. Make it so that for each item someone buys from a shop near your club, they get a transfer only token. They can redeem 5 tokens for a free lapdance or something.

Of course not all clubs offer lap dances, and frankly if your charming enough you can get those free from guests.

But you did request earlier that the club be hosted by a live DJ. I would think maybe each token could buy a song request .... specific song requests would usually cost 1L
A simple script you pay the DJ and it asks for a song, you type the name
The dj would get a notice of pay and the song/ requestee he could IM if he doesn't have it as well as acknowledge the "tip" if a token were used, he could thank the person for their continued patronage

Makes the DJ happy, easy to keep his/ her audience liking them

Clubs is more in tune with audience, promotes the local shops ...

Gives the patron a way to get involved and hear what they want to hear

I want one that is solid, has a bit of extra weith on the head but not so much as to be unwieldy. I hate clubs with slick or small handles. They become very hard to control when the least little bit of blood on them.

Went to a club that was highly recommended by several people on another thread. Had the atmosphere, music and ambiance that was described...we were just settling in and I was ready to put it on my "list of places to return" when...

We live on a mainland sim that is pretty much deserted (and for sale) EXCEPT a club on the far side of the sim. When it holds events our lone little occupied space is lagged to heck and on one occasion got the "sim is full" when trying to return home.
