I was playing RL just the other day but I got in trouble and someone tp'd me to a place called county jail. It sucked but the textures were amazing. j/k really..... Ahh - caged by griefers. When SL goes down, generally I curse a little, then I play poker if I'm up for it. Otherwise, there's about a million things that need doing that I've been ignoring because I just don't want to do them - all those little chores that are so easy to put off. _____________________

hmm, I either work on completely random texture patterns or create clothes. If i cannot be bothered with that I will annoy my mum by sitting staring into space, or occasionally play on my many games consoles - all at the same time
 I try to update myspace, facebook, bebo, and keep up to date with my 3 e-mail addys. If I am feeling reeeeeally wierd and out of it, I will tidy my room - only very very occasionally though! Then I might do some RL work hehe. _____________________

funny but SL has only been down once in the last several months when I wanted on... but I suppose I could just amuse my self killing things in D2E, or Guild Wars... if I get REALLT desperate I could try to beat my high score on minesweeper, or pinball... or heavens forbid play civilization (the original one!) yeah I still do that... dos window and all

Things I do when SL is down:
I have a small plywood cube that I bat around the house. I also practice flying by jumping up in the air and flapping my arms really hard. I used to try to go dancing, but other people asked me to stop. I tried shopping for RL hair and shoes, but it turns out that it's no fun at all in RL. I afix a giant wodden phallus to myself with duct tape and go to shopping malls where I chase women around demanding that they teach me sexxies NOW. I stole a bi-plane once from the local airport. Did you know it's a federal crime? Prison was bad. My cellmate had a giant wooden phallus... Things I should do when SL is down: Get a life Therapy _____________________

When I can't access forums or don't want to or can't go in world...
I create textures or search for information on how to improve my skills. If I am tired of doing that then I play games elsewhere. I count prims in real life objects or pose, study my little prim looking guy that is very tiny. _____________________

Go to beta, put the addict t-shirt but then join the bitching that nothing rezzes. Meet with some friends and do foolish dances while being a gray Ruth like everyone else... watch countdowns of scheduled grid openings pass and continue dancing.. spot an occasional non responsive Linden here and then... Then tp to the havok4 sims and make 200 cubes physical to release frustration. THAT is REALLY being addicted.. but don`t forget, for us the downtimes are always in the evening hours.

Here's are things to do while the grid is down.
Sign up with PhotoPhlow. It's a flickr extension. It's lets you and others look at flickr pictures together and chat about them with other folks with PhotoPhlow. You can look at SL pictures if you want to try to get your SL fix. Go to there.com with your SL buds if you have 'em or by yourself if you don't. Or try the MTV worlds that use the same technology. This will probably make you appreciate SL more when you get back to it. Start a wiki at a free wiki site, get your friends involved, or anyone for that matter, and write a short story in the wiki. Find and install the useful Firefox add-ons you've been meaning to. Sign up at twinity.com for it's beta test. At some future downtime perhaps you can fill some idle time in the twinity world. Also sign up at Alivex3d.org and see what they are up to. Get a "clean duplicate bookmarks" extension for Firefox and work on those years of duplicated bookmarks you've imported from every beta of every browser for the past ten years. Hard drive file management. Find those duplicate files. Try to make yourself delete those 4 gigabyte DVD downloads that you just had to have but have never watched yet but you sure don't want to have to wait for them to download again. _____________________

Nowadays I just build offline so downtime no longer affects productivity.
