There have been long and drawn out legal battles over domain names, so this kind of legal battle isn't that far off from that, both are intangible, but both have value. I have to agree that it is something you can have legal claim to, and would be a viable lawsuit.

Domain names are an excellent example. They are not tangible - you can't pick one up and take it anywhere - and yet they are said to be owned, when all that a person/company actually has are the rights to use it, and sell the rights to use it and sell it. If the periodic payment (lease?) lapses, then the rights are forfeited, and someone else can take it. It's a very good parallel to SL land, and domain name 'ownership' does stand up in court.

No matter what happens out of this -
One thing is for sure. Never trust anyone you are not married to IRL with $5000 without records. And seriously reconsider even trusting someone you are married to IRL with that kind of money. |

Let those TV court programs know about the suit. They will jump on it. A let us know which one you will be on. If CSI can jump on SL so can Judge Judy

How can a verbal contract be worth the paper it's written on? It's a VERBAL CONTRACT. ![]() That's a old joke, Oryx. It means, a verbal contract is worthless, because the "paper it's printed on" is nonexistent, and therefore worth zero. _____________________

Dragger, Knowing some of the real background to this, and some of the dirty tricks which have gone on (which, may I add, Dragger is too much of a gentleman to list) all I can say is - you got nothing, but nothing, to fear. Sit back and enjoy the festive season. It is awfully funny that you only know Dragger's side and the background there Dora...maybe you should ask the other person for her side of the story.....you may be surprised to come to another conclusion to what REALLY happened! And anyone wanting the a different version of what Dragger may tell you in here feel free to IM me in-world. |

You cut the "gravey train" off. Good for you honey, you certainly dont want to throw good money after bad. I think I would figure out how to file a counter suit if I was you. Slander comes to mind, but I really dont know what has been said. Give it a try and make the other side ache for a while too. Who knows the judge just might agree with you on a counter suit. Sue for the max too, $5000.

My wife (real life ) and i started sl with the house of music and a 4096 plot and expanded through hard work and giving tentants what they wanted as we started renting lands to others. |

It's really surprising to me to see how many people have been willing to quickly jump at the chance to become armchair attorney's based on few details and one side of the story.
I just want to point out to everyone that in cases like this there are always two sides to every tale. _____________________

Well heres a good comment for both sides: You are all old enough to know better than to transfer items of value on a Cash (or promised Cash) basis with no receipts and no records. Then nobody would have needed a lawyer. |
