From: Clarissa Lowell Why don't dance animation creators create the dances at different heights? Maybe small medium and large? Large would probably be what most avs would use.
It does seem weird to float in mid air. I tried the dance poseballs at the Berlin sim while 'fitting in' at 45 height and suddenly I was lighter than air. Aargle Zymurgy once toyed with a script to do this, (each person in the couple could adjust their own independently) but I've seen nothing further about it other than a few beta previews.

From: Catrietta Porta Yes - you don't see the females debating whether or not the dances are "girly" enough, or too "slutty," or anything like that! Men. Hmpfh. or the reverse... too masculine. I buy it all if I like it, regardless of any purchase suggestion pointing to gender, species etc.

Pink bikes, 'girly' dance moves - possibly because it's more of a stigma in society (not saying rightly or wrongly so, is stigma ever good?) if a boy is 'feminine' but not for a girl who is 'masculine.' Stereotypically 'masculine' qualities such as being ambitious, or athletic, or physically strong are generally seen as a plus in society. And a 'tomboy' girl is seen as more socially acceptable than a 'sissy' male (I don't use those words but many do.)
A male doing an overtly feminine action will be looked at as comical or feminised. Some guys don't want to be seen as either. That is my take on the whole thing anyway.
I guess this is one way girls/women get more latitude. We can wear pants, ride a boy's bike, and play softball. Boys in a dress, riding a pink bike and taking ballet lessons might have a hard row to hoe.

From: Catrietta Porta Yeah, and what is with the fact back in the day it was cool for a girl to ride a "boys style" 10 speed bike, but to this day, a guy won't be caught dead on a "girls style" bike? What gives? Personally, I think the designs are reversed, given the anatomy involved. That high cross bar? For boys? What were they thinking?! LOL !! Maybe the point of the high crossbar was to surreptitiously rid males of this fixation on "masculinity"? I'm afraid I'm not very up on LGBT sims either. There is one called Lesbos, I think. And I once visited a place called Bisexual Paradise, which had LOTS of couples pose balls ... although I don't remember any of them being for vertical dancing ...

From: Maureen Boccaccio I'm still looking for a "Two Step" dance inworld. Hmmmm....I seem to remember seeing one recently somewhere. Maybe in the "couples" section of 3FX? That's where I have been shopping most recently for couple's dances. I bought SIX!

From: Scylla Rhiadra Doesn't Sine Wave have whole sections devoted to men's solo dances? It certainly has sections for women, and all of the dances, I think, are marked "F" or "M." I have not, for obvious reasons, tried any of the "M" ones out, but there is enough variety there that I imagine you should be able to find one that fits the bill. The majority of the dances at Sine Wave are female or "unisex". The unisex dances tend to be pretty feminine. *shrug*, most stuff inworld is geared toward women anyway. What I find funny is the amount of backlash and negative comments surrounding a men's only treasure hunt recently. Apparently women were screaming "NO FAIR!!", which is a laugh because nearly ALL treasure hunts only give out female prizes. And nearly all dances inworld tend to be rather feminine.

What gives? Personally, I think the designs are reversed, given the anatomy involved. That high cross bar? For boys? What were they thinking?! Girls also often wear men's clothing, even 'borrowing' it from spouses or boyfriends. This is traditionally because men's clothing us usually designed more practical and women's clothing more fashion oriented with less concern for durability or practicality, and in every day use, practicality tends to win. The main difference between men's and women's dances is similar. Men usually do not go as far out of their way to show off their bodies, partly because we have less to show off in the chest area. Also, the societal stigmas regarding men overemphasizing sex physically are a lot greater than those regarding women doing the same. When it comes to talking about sex the roles are reversed. Thankfully that has been changing somewhat.

From: Alexander Harbrough On the subject of dances, anyone know any good sources for men's solo dances that are for want of a better term, less feminine and written for just dancing out in public rather than performing? Try the 'Shuffle' section at 3FX. At least two of the dances there (Space Night and Passion of Shuffle) are good, all-round dances with decent footwork but are not too showy or feminine. Might want to try the male dances at Akeyo, too. The Ben set is pretty good, as are a couple of the Jays, and they have some good 'groove' dances for when you just want to nod your head and move just a bit The Shuffle dances are especially good for house, techno and trance, and the Akeyo ones are good for most dance genres. 3FX: http://slurl.com/secondlife/MoonLand/98/61/22Akeyo: http://slurl.com/secondlife/AKEYO/148/118/51
