What do you do when you come across restricted access?

I used to have a neighbour who setup ban lines on one side of my parcel. One day when he was around and the ban line was taken off. I walk to his house and request him not to put up the ban line again.
He never reply but ejected and ban me. Ban line is actually not allowed in that sim but the estate owner never enforce it. Once I fly around the sim and encounter a sercurity orb with 10 seconds warning. I turn right angel to escape it asap but hit the ban lines on the other parcel. And was TP home.
Actually, security orb is more dangerous than ban lines. Ban line stop you at the border. But security orb lets you in and throw you out within a short period. Worst are those that never set any time delay. When I was new, I have no idea why I was suddenly TP home while exploring. I thought my viewer is borked.

From: Deira Llanfair I have to admitt, I release the camers contraints and zoom in and take a good look around. Just can't resist it - it brings out the "peeping Tom" in me! A resident has just blocked off access to a parcel near my shop and also put up a barrier of giant prims, texture on outside, transparent on the inside, in an attempt to prevent seeing inside. I know as a shop owner, restricting access is anathema to me, but the irony is, that if she had not blocked off access and view, I would not have bothered looking! I know what you mean. If nearby avatars are surrounded by red lines or hiding behind obtrusive privacy prims then they may as well stick a sign up saying "im doing something remotely interesting". So I have a look.

Areas inside ban lines make great trampolines. Fly over them, let myself fall, bounce a few times, get bored and go somewhere else.

banlines are put up by selfish ******

I cruise the waters of sl frequently on open areas and frequently crash into banlines that protrude out into the waters. Even channels that link large bodies of water are blocked by owners. I think they are a sign that says "I don't give a crap about anyone else in this world". If the owner is home and wants a bit of privacy, thats one thing. the banlines that irk me the most are empty properties. When I slam into a banline in my boats, I generally get thrown, my boat disappears, I have to tp home, or log off. I believe any navigable waters in sl should remain open and ban free. Banlines just further my opinion of many people in sl who I believe are truly mean spirited and have no sense of community with their sl neighbors.

I recently cammed into a neighbor's property when they put up ban lines. I actually got to see my neighbors. I also saw their boring furnished house which is too big for the plot. I felt guilty about it.
Bouncing on ban lines is more fun as is outrunning security orbs.
I have one more weapon I'd like to add to my arsenal. I'd like to be able to give such land owners the finger. If any one knows where I can find a good curse finger animation, please let me know.

Not to mention when you fly a plane you get bounced right off the plane.
Seriously Banlines mess up flying.

I get asked this quite a lot. Unfortunately you cannot animate fingers in SL (or faces) - you are restricted to a choice of set of hand positions, such as fist, typing, spread, relaxed, point. (I sell a good point and laugh gesture - shameless plug!) It is because the SL avatar does not have joints for fingers - the structure is rather out of date now and we could really benefit from a new avatar with a better skeleton and mesh. I'd be able to animate many more character actions.

This thread explains why trying to leave any parcels on the current mainland labeled "adult" and restricted to "age-verified" accounts only will never work.
