Ok what is that picture on my login screen? It's a girl wearing a sweater. Holding a fish. It's night and she obviously has a facelight on.

The first time I saw that one I actually let out a small RL shriek. I'd like to know what gives also.

Not necessarily a facelight
02-07-2009 02:33
Theory 1. Fish is bioluminescent.

Theory 2. Girl is caught in flashlight of G-Team's game warden and is about to be suspended for fishing without a license.

(But in fact I don't see it at all. At the moment, I'm just getting a blank black login screen when I run the standard 1.21.6 release. Which is unusual.)

I get Girl from Monet painting in the Antarctic. Although it looks like there are pine trees in the distance, so maybe she's in a zoo or something. Either way, I bet she wishes she'd worn a coat.

edit that's "a girl from a Monet painting, in the Antarctic", as opposed to a "girl from Monet, painting in the Antarctic".

Haven't seen it? It's gorgeous! U have to login-logut, then until u see it!
Or someone that gets it has to post a pic!

And for the facelight... It's totally allowed to wear facelights when the result is a photo like that ;)

It is the fish. You dont' recognize that fish? It is a breed known as the Magloach. They are a full 50% brighter than any competing fish, and considerably more durable. They make GREAT gifts for the sportsman on your shopping list!!

Huh. I still can't find it. You are talking about www.secondlife.com, right? Not the actual client login splash page?

The bright pink of the girl's outfit suggests it's Torley. Too bad, I can't tell for sure if the trim on the parasol is green or not.

I wish they'd do this for the RCs. I tend to use them more than the regular viewer.

If they've appeared on your login screen you might be able to find them in the embedded Mozilla browser in the viewer by pressing F1 and then putting "about:cache" in the address bar.

They don't seem to appear on my XP machine but they do appear on the Vista one. The XP machine is running the RC and the Vista is running the standard viewer.

The screen is obviously a tribute to Steelhead. It's a pretty odd little community, thus the look of dubious speculation on the girl's face.

Or perhaps it's a tribute to Trout, the invisible prankster?

Either way, it's verrrry fishy, don't you think?

A girl in her house and a fish in a stream both noticed a mysterious glow in the woods and came to investigate at the same time.

Yeah, calling the glow a "face" light is a bit of a euphemism.
