How many of you use the snapshot function in sl and what do you take pics of? I must admit that I am into closeups of me (naturally!) often in "interesting" positions. What do you like to load and shoot?
Any tips?

These are my collections of SL pics that I put on Flickr. If you browse through these, you'll notice I, um, like to take pics of myself a lot.... I love playing with lighting and scenery and use Windlight for effects. i also like to use certain places repeatedly as a backdrop (such as Suffugium or Durrat al Ghawwas, or my place at Blackmount).(If you compare it to my RL photographs that are also there on Flickr, you'll notice in RL I go for details and textures a lot...) _____________________

Ever since I found that my computer could run Windlight on Ultra... Just about anything that looks cool. (^_^) I also send pictures of myself out to my group for fun and even some event pictures when I'm having fun with friends.
Advice? Check out the "High Resolution" option in the client debug menu... Those pictures look amazing. And get used to the camera controls... [alt]-click-drag and [ctrl][alt]-click-drag are the picture takers' best friends. (^_^) _____________________

i like to take pics of my outfits and live music events and when i go exploring. i have loads of close ups of friends and scenery etc which I can't upload yet because of limits. I love taking pics of interesting things and I test my poses and emotes with my piccies. It also gives me a chance to mess around in the GIMP and get used to the controls in that. _____________________

cntrl-alt-shift-click-drag
disable camera contraints renderfarclip to like 10000 or something set up light don't render classic clouds freezeframe of course hide selected WindLight sky and water fooling around renderglow when used very subtly All the render things in debug come in handy too for, say, removing buildings, etc. _____________________

Pics in SL can be just as tricky as RL....but it's great fun....windlight makes it irresistable to just snap away. I create character ideas myself for pics and usually go with a theme every day. Or I grab my friends that look cool and drag em to my studio. If you want to practice....check it out in-world 'Sky Lab Studios'....there's all kinds of poses set up so folks can do their own thing (some are invisible in walls and blocks or chairs) |

Being the perv that I am, if any ladies in SL are walking around with skirts & NO panties.... I got pics!!
![]() Ok, a few. Just becuz I felt 'naughty'. Most of the pics I've taken were of stuff I've done or someone's build that I found "Cool" just so I could show folks at work.... who still dont "get it". But then we're talking people who still think Windows 98 Rulez & the Internet is AOL. ![]() _____________________

As a blogger, I take lots and lots of pictures. Pretty much anything I do that day that I plan on blogging about, I post at least one photo to go along with it.

oh yeah, I also have a habit of snapping piccies of glitches. i was a bit slow last night when I got stuck in the ceiling, but if someone (including me) has glitched in my presence, I will likely snap a piccie.
I won't necessarily post it on flickr tho. Depends..._____________________

I take lots of pics for my blog and to remember the places I visit (not all of them make it into the blog). And of course I take pictures of my products for posting on SL Exchange and for making vendor textures.
Tips? Yes, one: Take the NCI classes on photography. These are every Friday afternoon and come in three parts. The timing is a bit awkward for me, but I have managed to take part I and II so far. Part III is still on my wish list. I am not a noob, but I always learn something I didn't know yet in these classes. _____________________

I mostly take pictures of my avatar, because even in sl I'm still a narccisst. I occasionally snap a few pictures with my friends, that is if I can squeeze them in the shot next to my huge ego.

Bradley's Ass mostly. That's why I asked that question about extreme closeups.

Oh and tips.......... higres snapshot (only recently discovered that one) and quiet snapshot to disk are my latest friends. ![]() I've actually been trying to take quiet snapshots without the animation and sound. I had no idea this is how you do it. Kool, new trix! ![]() What does the high res snapshot do? I know the name is kinda self-explanatory, but does it make a difference? _____________________

I know the name is kinda self-explanatory, but does it make a difference? It does make a difference. Clearer and crisper, higher definition, especially if you want to use and /or manipulate them for posters and such. Still have to mess with the rendering options some more. ETA: if you look at my highres pic of Dist playing last night, I think you can see a difference with a whole bunch I've done previously ![]() BTW ... I was taking pics last night with all graph options to the limits, camera controls disabled, draw distance to the max, highres to harddisk ....... yummy ![]() Windlight next I guess.... _____________________

I take some pics from my flickr page and group and also because Windlight is really pretty.
Before I would like to use software to work on pic but with Windlight not necessary. |

I know the name is kinda self-explanatory, but does it make a difference? You end up with some breathtakingly fabulous shots on high res - especially if you are running Windlight. Hundreds of ordinary pics and THEN I discover high-res... _____________________

see, I am using Windlight, but my water isn't shiney - it is just a flat blue with ripples,
my clouds are just like the normal viewer, and the sunrise/set doesn't light things the same way. Is this because the pictures I have seen are done in high res? or my viewer/computer is messed up? Oh nevermind lol, guess I will be messing with my snapshots again tonight before the shopping trip. Trial and error I spose. Sorry for the highjack Jig. /back on topic... _____________________

I've been taking LOTS of pictures of my beach replete with ohgodsobeautiful Windlight enhancements. Such incredible azure water! Such amazing skies!! Oh god yes ...
Well until my graphics card starts flipping out and drawing in lots of massive triangles everywhere. LOL. I need to upgrade ... it would be hard to go back to the dull "reality" forever now. 5 star all the way for this chickie, no more lumbering carthorses dragging me down ![]() Mind you one of those shots of the freakouts is going to be used as a texture! |
