From: Yumi Murakami in a world that is swimming with excellent content but also with people wondering what they're supposed to actually do with it. "All Art is quite useless" - Oscar Wilde.

From: Yumi Murakami There's nothing wrong with being the elite, but rule by the elite is a rather different thing. It's ironic that you'd mention meritocracy almost in the same breath; meritocracy is an interesting word because it has two different meaning: one that's "a society where those with most merit have power", but the other meaning (in fact the original meaning) is "one where access to merit is controlled by those with power". The classic example was the British school system, where politicians are famous for passing "levelling" laws affecting state schools, while themselves sending their children to private schools that aren't affected.
. Interesting on "merit." I was unclear by some definitions, if the elitist tag included actual power or assumed power. What I was talking about....people assigning the elitist qualities/title to a particular group....assigning actual power and related advantages..... is different than an individual who refers to themselves as elitist, as part of game/character play in SL...one who does not possess the actual power attributes/qualities....but is rather a faux elitist as part of game play.
