I did a silly thing you know, when I was setting up a hippRENT box. I was just messing around with the Configuration Notecard, and sent the box way up in the air! I can't get it back to delete it either. It's at an altitude of over 700, and for some reason I can only fly up to 200. How on earth do I get the thing back? I don't want to 'Return' all my objects because I've just completed a mall, and last time I tried to re-rez it, SL messed it, and it took ages to fix.

Can only fly up to 200m? Do you have a flight feather or some other device to allow you to fly higher?

Pull out another box, sit on it, then edit it and move it up until you can find the old box. You should be able to grab it once you find the lil escapee!
The flight feather works too, I always just set something out, sit, move, because I will more than likely stay in the same line as the box I felw off wherever...I tend to wander off sideways when I flight, Im tipped or something lol

Sit on a box, and use the edit menu to raise it to 700 m at the spot you lost the rent box. Then raise the box you are sitting on manually until you find the rent box.

Is that a joke or is it some 'thing' you can get in SL?

Harman, that's a pretty common mistake. Happened to all of us eventually.
Don't worry. All you need is a flight assist tool to fly higher than 200 m. I'll send you one in-world right away.
{EDIT} The sit-on-box-and shift-up trick mentioned above works pretty well, too.

I sent you a "flight feather". Wear it, and you will be able to fly that high.
You could also make a box, sit on the box, and edit it - then set the z position to whatever you need it to be, assuming you know where the thing you lost is.

Create a box, sit on it, set height to 700 metres, go to view and reset view.

There are several different FREE "flight assist" devices in SL that will help you fly higher and faster. The "flight feather" is one of them, them, there are several other common freebies, "Carbon Rod" is one of the older ones, which is harder to control at slower speeds and seems more prone to crashing.
You can get free copies of these in the box of "Free useful stuff" on the west vendor wall of my store in Shona.

Youhave the best answer - sit on a box. But that really never stopped any of us on the forum from giving other answers that may or may not be even remotely possible, so here it goes:
1) Get a really long stick and see if you can knock it out of the sky. 2) Call LL and have them use the SL missle defense system (the so called Star Trek Missle Shooter Downer Thingy) to knock it out of the sky 3) Notify PN and have them send a griefer by to orbit you. Grab it on your way up. 4) Sometime Wednesday afternoon you should get your stipend. Use it to buy a freebie flight feather. 5) Jesus Christ! I hope you aren't at Waterhead! 6) Throw rocks at it. 7) Have your trained attack bee home defense system fly up and retrieve it for you.

Hire Trout to fly you up there in his bi-plane.

You're a helpful bunch, thanks all for the freebies and advice. I just found the box and zapped it, so thankfully, I'll not have to de-rez the mall. I plan to launch the mall on January 1st 2008, so that's a major relief It's amazing what you find right up there; trees that don't need soil are pretty amazing Oh, and I just discovered one of my neighbours has a house up there, complete with garden and pool!

The Church of Elvis in SL has a bouncing peanutbutter and 'nanner sammich. Just sit on it and it catapults you up at least that high. Grab it while you're up there.
(seriously, search "Elvis" - the bouncing sammich is pretty fun - I was searching Elvis for my latest endeavor - a musical group - the Zombie Elvis String Quartet. I'm making a bunch of Zombie Elvis Alts and I'll have them playing instruments while I stream in the music. We do weddings, bar mitzvahs, divorces, and all sorts of gatherings. The cello player's arm keeps falling off and the violinist is a little maggoty, but we work for brains)

Ahhh, memorieeees... laugh Seriously a maggoty Elvis will not look good when singing 'A little less conversation and a little more action please...' .d

.d All he really sings is "Braiinnnnssss, Braaaiiiiinnnssssss...." over an over. But he can really carry a tune. Way better than the Don King Barbershop Quartet that I was trying to put together. Imagine the love of your SLife walking down the aisle in that beautiful white dress. You standing there looking like a million bucks in a new tuxedo. Surrounded by friends and loved ones while four Don Kings croon Sweet Adeline at the tops of their lungs. I'm telling you - this idea is GOLD.

I see your point , I bet that there are many suck.. errr people that would give up a right arm to have such accompaniment in their special day. People seem to take leave of their senses when planning a wedding. Much better idea than our old plan to sell humm 'body parts' to noobs coming from the CSI Orientation Island. .d

I forgot about that one. Hey bub...want to get laid? You're going to need one of these. It's three feet long and doesn't match any skin tone ever created in SL, but trust me...the ladies LOVE it. It usually sells for 350L, but I like you. For you it's only 299. Attach it to your forehead. I know. It's weird, but that's how it's done around here. Take this, too. It's a landmark to Ahern. Lots of pretty ladies there.

Yep.. the only wrinkle on the thing, no pun intented, was that noobs have no money... so your elvis plan is better... However, the sales job could have been a lot of fun.. wering a long overcoat with Xcite bits on one side and Sensations on the other... 'psst bud! come here... these will even talk for you!' .d

From: Harman Homewood Oh, and I just discovered one of my neighbours has a house up there, complete with garden and pool! Skyhouses are a good way to escape the madness at ground level on the mainland. Also, for building it's better. Usually you don't get disturbed by passerbys very often. Also, there is less lag when you are up there.
