Region: Humboldt
All of a sudden my region has the NAME and DESCRIPTION of my neighbor - in the next region...along with their land settings and snapshot.
How in the world did this happen?? This could be disastrous if certain setting were manipulated wrong. Thank Goodness, the land did not transfer to my neighbors name too!
Relogged. Cleared Cache. Go Figure.

A couple of months back, the Name of my parcel changed to some XXX rated description - but only I saw it that way. The next login a friend saw the name wrong and I saw it fine. This same thing also happen at the Hangout - some of us all of a sudden saw a very strange and vulger title, but not everyone saw it. After a day or two, everything seemed normal again.
Because of how it was only affecting certain views before, for these recent times when people say their land is taking the description of a neighboring parcel, I would be curious to know what others see in the land info. _____________________

Yep, this is a pretty old bug. I've noticed it on my land in Freelon once or twice. As far as I know it does affect teleports to your parcel or anything else important. It just shows the wrong info in the title bar.

For now, the 'avoidance' of this issue that works for me is:
IF using the RC viewer, and IF you have control over land settings of a parcel in the sim that you are in -- DO NOT click About Land on a parcel in a different sim. If you do, the settings of a parcel that you own could be changed, and if the other parcel is on sale, your parcel will go on sale at whatever price is set for that other parcel. MISC-1034 is the one in which the change is permanent on the database There has been some confusion |

This one changes ALL land settings including the for sale info, to that of a parcel in a neighboring sim. Only thing that remained unchanged on mine was the owner info. And I thank goodness that, in my case, the land wasn't set for sale. |

For those that may not have seen this yet, there is a new RC available for download from the login page (test software page has NOT been updates, last I checked).
Release Notes for Second Life 1.19.1(4) March 28th, 2008 ===================================== * Fixed a bug causing the viewer to update the wrong parcel. The JIRA number is not listed so I do not know if they are referring to this particular bug. EDIT: This from JIRA: Phoenix Linden - 28/Mar/08 04:37 PM Good news. The patch has passed QA. All I know for sure is: RC 1.19.1 (1), (2), (3) all exhibits an unexpected permanent par change. RC 1.19.1 (4) whenever that ships does not exhibit that problem. |

I'll D/L that new version and rerun my tests.
It most probably fixes it. There was a lot of heat. Land got unintentionally sold on the back of it. Edit: It's fixed in the new RC version available only (currently) from the login screen |
