Hi
We all know how to "teleport home" but how do you call this "home?" Is it a "home land" (sounds weird), a "home parcel", a "home site"? "Home build"? (There are places with no build at all.) When a company like CNN builds its presence on only a part of an island, it's not a "home island" but what is it then?
The word "home page" (collection of text and other content stored on a piece of server space) was coined pretty early, and this word was even introduced to non-english languages (as a matter of fact, in some languages there is no other word for that). But how do you call the piece of 3d space you own or rent, design, use and take care of? Any suggestions? I like "home space" though.

"Home"
Cause I treat it like my RL home. I respect other homes the same as I want mine respected. I don't use ban lines, or security systems (Unless working on stuff), but rude people are shown the way out via my boot up thier arse.
*shrugs*
My SL Home is where I spend time with friends, work on projects, or just chill and listen to music while looking through Search or new notecard manuals, or jsut while I'm trying to figure out just wtf LL was thinking when they did some new "feature" and how to work around it lol.
As each of us treat our SL Homes differently, just like we do our RL Homes, I think "Home" pretty well sums it up.

If you are referring to the entire sim, of course the word is just sim. So your "home parcel" makes perfect sense: it is your home and it's your parcel.

LMAO! I like you But... I think I don't mean the spot where you necessarely rez or "spawn". You can rez anywhere. And even if you don't rez at your home at all, it is still there, as others can see it. Think of sentences like these, and imagine you talk to someone off-world, and not necessarely about SL but about virtual worlds in general: "Yesterday I added a great couch to my _____ ". Virtual home? Home parcel? Home location? All very clumsy. "I attended a discussion about virtual worlds at CNN's ______". Home space? (It's not a sim, just a relatively small plot they got for themselves.) As you can see, the concept is similar to "home pages".

I just call it my home. Or my castle, since I really do have a castle that I built there.

I favor the word parcel. I have three parcels. My first land plot I hold onto for sentimental reasons and it is rented out. My other parcels are my store, where I sell stuff, and my studio, where I make the stuff to sell. My studio is the most home-like, where I have privacy (mostly) where I spend the bulk of my time and where I can make a mess.

Seems like "parcel" is already in place, but this reminds of something I would get in the mail. I think a lot of people would say "island" these days, even though they may not have the entire island. It seems like islands tend toward residential and mainlands tend toward - well, ad farms. "Plot" sounds like a place to be buried.
On the web we have web "pages" or "sites." How about "I just put a cool sofa on my site?" -- KC

I'll take "sandbox" for $200L Alex.... Technically, that is what it is - your own personal sandbox, on which you can play house, play business or build giant toilets to annoy your neighbors.

How about 'virdomloc', from virtual domiciliary location? No? Oh well, never mind, I'll put me thinking cap on again!

From: Pratyeka Muromachi ok, gotcha... how about Virtual Personal Living Environment (ViPerLivEn) LOL that`s nice but not all places are used for living. There are many business-only spots, and quite a few RL-based brand presences.

home location, home site, home region, home parcel, that place I end up if I try to relog to a sim that's crashed/restarting... all work Do you mean that hitting Ctrl-Shift-H takes you there? How did you manage to do that? AFAIK you need landowner or group member rights to set a new home location. Ah yes, to answer the OP question: For me it "home location". Maybe unglamorous, but to the point.
