Oh...excuse me. You mean, you are a happy troll. I had mistaken you for a sourpuss troll.

All right, then. Carry on.

I'm normally quite cheerful.. but..

I'm not sure that adopting a controversial position or opposing argument is sufficient to be called a Troll.

Or is it true that even the position of "devil's advocate" is now to be written off as Trollism..?

To be honest, there is something worse than being a Troll, and that's attempting to discredit an opposing position by unfairly discrediting it's proponent.

The argument fallacy ad hominem.. I believe.

And yet there are as many arguments on the other side. Labels are often difficult as they defined through human perception and perception is selective.

"Labels are like rocks - you can use them as landmarks to safely Navigate by, or you can Shipwreck yourself on them."

Which was kinda my point. *I* don't think it's a game, but even citing a lot of examples I couldn't successfully argue the point, even to myself.

I'm not trying to discredit you, I'm just goofing with you...since by your own admission you were goofing with us.

Since you mention it, though...there is a fine line between trolling and adopting a position for the sake of serious discussion. Most trolls generally try to hide behind this argument ("I was only playing devil's advocate";) at some point.

So yeah...based on your posts here and recent ones in other threads, I do think you're kinda trollish. But that's just my opinion; don't let it fret you.

I'm sorry Lindal I don't know who Rebecca is.

All I know is I come back to the forums, and I'm as inflammatory and reactionary as possible and still don't get a good argument....actually Trout did kick my *rse the other day so sometimes it works..:)

What happened .. where did all the pointless feistiness go..? :)

actually since SL is pushed as "Your world, your imagination" It can be a game to those that wish it to be. Why limit anyones imagination or their world?

It feels like another lifetime, but I actually joined in late 2005 and I was called Stephen Hartnell if my memory is working.

Happy days they were.. when I was green in judgement, cold in blood.

Ahh well..:)

My, you are landing in the wrong spots. I haven't seen a sex sim in ages. I have seen beautiful gardens, artwork, dance halls, life music shows and met a lot of nice people.

I guess SL is what you make it.

You've probably been to another SL than Bartlebus then.... :D Seems he isn't in the same SL as I am, either! ;)

And Bartlebus, if you want an arse kicking, just say so-I would never decline such an offer! No need for being confrontational beforehands, just state your wishes! *bows* :D

I understand that's an option Alyx, but for the most part it's the confrontation I enjoy. The bruising to my bottom usually only happens on the rare occurrence that I lose.

Whether or not I ever enjoy the bruising is another matter altogether..:)

But many other, like me too, don't play a role in SL.

But, you do play a role.

The second you begin to make your avatar you're doing it to play a role. Your av is an extension of you and what you represent. Even if you choose an av of the opposite gender, you're still playing a role in sl just like everyone else.

Well, some people say they don't roleplay because they don't choose to act or perform a certain way. It doesn't matter.

You're dead right! BUT, that is a kind of "Roleplay" that everybody play every day in RL too. The kind to clothe oneself, your hobby, all this can be role play.
On the day you work in the bank with your best suit and a tie and in the night you are a biker in a leather suit with fringes.

Is RL a game? Good question :-)

Well since I wrote the phrase, I'm not sure I actually need the clue to my own intent.

It was actually an attempt at light humour by means of veiled self-deprecation..:)
