From: Soar Wingtips Don't you think that the sl economy is going to be affected by rl economy, the less money ppl have in rl to spend on luxury items and the USA and now GB are good example, declining housing market , downturn in retail sales, it must have an affect on sl economy as well too true

From: Jackson Rickenbacker Mostly, I have refrained from saying bad things about LL. And I'll continue to try and bite my lip, But a few things I would like to know, maybe other residents can help me understand the method to the madness LL often displays
The Economy in SL has been on a decline for over a year now, lately its been a excerated rate. the strongest market in SL which is the land market has been abused so badly, that private estates are worth virtually nothing.
Part of this reason is that LL never seemed to care about the gaming and abuse of the land sales search, the primary advertising mode for buying and selling land. Another reason is the gross satuaration of mainland in SL. Comparitively, the mainland mass has tripled in size with maybe a 10% increase in population in that same period, inturn decimating both the mainland and estate market.
My qualifying question is... Will LL ever realize they NEED a expert economist on the payroll too help them avoid destroying what they have created. Seems alot of bonehead actions have been implemented over the past year, and it doesnt seem LL cares a tiny bit about thier "investors". Why is this? indeed estate owners make up about 80% of LL's investment capital, why are they not focusing on caring for theses people? If an estate owner can make money selling/renting the land to other players, then LL could have done the same. Yeah, maybe it wasn't "right" to let the estate owners/investors take the financial risks, but it clearly wasn't a "poor economic decision" on LL's part, quite the contrary.

To follow up on my previous comment, as a long time player of on-line subscription games, it's been inexplicable to me why LL did not do more to attract subscription accounts. I've paid subscription fees for well over a year for games I rarely played before I decided I was done with the game and finally cancelled. Dumb, maybe, but a monthly subscription fee of $15.00 equates to going to a movie or going out to dinner once a month, so if I played more than 2 hours a month, it's a bargain.
So when I first started playing SL, I started out with a subscription account. Then felt like an idiot when I discovered I'd be much better off if I hadn't. I could obtain much better land by renting from an estate owner at far less cost than buying mainland and paying LL the subscription fee and tier.
So I cancelled my premium account. That was a "poor economic decision" for LL.

From: Chris Norse They don't live off of government research grants? He has never done anything but be in "education". I have known the type, they have no clue about the real world. Are you anti-science, anti-government and anti-education? Don't you think you might be being a little harsh? Sounds pretty anti to me.
