Well, Max is a guy and looking at his profile, he wont be interested in wearing any girlie girl hair doos. He might be interested in the new line of men's hair at KMADD http://slurl.com/secondlife/Kmadd%20Enterprise/188/90/26They also have a great Flicker site.. http://www.flickr.com/photos/15204472@N03/Full disclosure: I have no KMADD stock in my portfolio, I just think they do a fantastic job with whatever they undertake. Two very talented guys.

Sirena!
Her hair moves like real hair and it isn't "doll hair" or "big hair" but more realistic (she does have some more 'fantasy' styles like, as her store name suggests, mermaid hair). Wispy.
I love how the bigger hair looks on some people's avs but I feel strange wearing it, usually.
I like Laqroki hair but HOW can they make it non stretchable? I don't understand that.
With Sirena you get a whole color pack for under $200L I think; plus in three sizes and it stretches TOO. Oh and her new hair is scripted.
Cake has a few styles I like and her hair is copy/mod so you can adjust the colors some of which are a bit er unflattering IMO. I also wish she had a color swatch since her color names are not very illuminating.
I have a current fave too but I can't recall where I got it offhand. Will repost if I remember.

Right now Treasure is wearing Sirena Leilani, tinted purple to match the outfit. Cake is ok, but if you're wearing black, as I do, you need to tweak the black, it's just not black enough, too much gray in it, same with Bewitched blacks. Good styles though.

At the moment "Clarissa" is wearing Sirena "Mimi" in forum pic. Yep good styles at Cake although as with any hair I strongly suggest trying a demo first. Some of it just hits my av the wrong way; my av seems best in wispier styles or with some bangs or shorter length hair in front, generally. Some of Cake's browns are a bit odd (greenish/orangeish?), too...but improved (for me) with just tinting light grey over it. I like Sirena's color tones the best personally. I also like Bishwear (that is the store name I couldn't recall earlier) their black tones are good. The browns are reddish but I kind of like that.

Yeah I need bangs too, or some kind of sweep over part of the forehead. My forehead looks huge with nothing over it at all. I wish I could find some really gorgeous braids or dreadlocks that come down somewhat over one eye on one side. I don't like Coco's and those are the only one's I've ever found on SL, except for some that are braided 'back' from the forehead, which again, my forehead is too big for that look.

I got some dreads once for a contest - in pink and blue for 10L in one area of this shop, their others cost more - that are called BooPerFunk. The shop name may be the same too. I dunno about 'gorgeous' but they came in many styles/colors, that I recall. One shape I made has a huge forehead and I can't seem to change it, no matter how many times I crush down the whole head/features and start over again. (If I want the same front features.) I wish there were a simple way to crush the head horizontally a bit, without just narrowing the head. (Or actually, in Clarissa's shape, to raise the top of her head a bit, without stretching the bottom two thirds.) I did flatten the head of the big-forehead one in *back* a bit though, which was easier; so that some shops' hair fit better. The unstretchable wigs. That shape's head looks better in some hair with discreetly draped sides on it. Kind of hides her huge melon. "Clarissa's" head seems to fit most hair shops but she still prefers Sirena ETA: Clarissa forum pix now show Bishwear (forgot style name offhand). I don't wanna misrepresent what "Mimi" hair looks like. "Mimi" is short and wispy.

From: Lewis Luminos Philotic Energy. As well as great hair, the creator (Aemilia Case) is one of the loveliest people I know in SL. Agreed. My regular hair is from PE. Sooo cute (if I do say so myself).

For some alternative styles: Deviant kitties (punk), BooperFunk (ethno).

Zero Style and Kin definitely. I love hair and have many wigs BUT Zero and Kin. be careful though that flexi hair doesnt blur your features too much.

Let's see.....
I started 2008 In Calico hair.
Then moved to ETD hair (which does not have a proper orange/red that really pops.
Now I am exclusively in Deviant Kitty hair.
Oh and in between them i tried Gurl6, and Calla (for my wedding hair which i loved).
And the hair in my forum avatar pic is Calico Creations...I forget the name though.

I've tried all sorts of demos in dozens of stores, but mostly buy from ETD. Curl Up and Dye is another store that doesn't get mentioned often but has a good range. Some very nice historical styles to go with period costumes. Max, you might want to take a look at the long list of places on the Savoir Hair blog: http://www.savoirhairsl.com/-- Aes
