I started another SL5B thread with a more positive title! Just been there - amazing builds - just go and look!! Too many things to describe here but what stood out was a huge modern curvy building on an island. I was left speechless. SL5B was very busy today, mind, so lag and crashing was a problem. It'll probably quieten off a bit and then I'd recommend packing a picnic and making sure your RL-er cancels all other engagements for a few hours!

It was lovely--the Raglan Shire build was my personal favorite (simple pleasures, ya'll, but the acorn lampposts were adorable) ...and the Greenie's cake was perfect.
I had a fabulous time and didn't even mind The Crash That Ate My Avvie. XD
'Sides, I got her back, so it's all good. ;D

I crashed in a sparsely occupied region there.
It's lagged all over SL over this.
I tried to tp to an event about artists in SL making it in RL and it wouldnt let me.
I think that's definitely a hint to stay away.

I've been flying around snapping pictures of the local flora and fauna at SL5B, including some shots of the amazing lagfes^H^H^H^H^H^H festivities at the main stage. Feels very "Burning Life" to me. There's a good amount of interesting exhibits, lots of "meh" or "uhm, what is that supposed to be?", and very few blatant trolls. Overall, I like what I've seen.

the title should really be "well worth the effort"

I was comparing it to Burning Life as I wandered round SL5B. I love both events - but SL5B is a bit more like an international exhibition, whereas BL had a more 'alternative' feel to it. That's just subjective, though, since both contain exhibits of great creativity.
Of course the other difference between SL5B and BL is grass as opposed to sand. It's gonna get messy if it rains a lot!

Now that's one thing the SL5B regions really need: Weather generators. After all, the lag can't get any worse, could it? Anyway, I second the opinion that SL5B is well worth a visit. Lots of good things to see there! Some of the exhibitors seem somewhat less than happy about the censorship. Anybody got Artfox's "nipple head"?

It is definitely worth checking out. I haven't seen much of it yet, but it'll be happening for several more days...and perhaps beyond. I took note of Philip Linden mentioning in his keynote speech that the 20 sims of the birthday celebration is larger than the original Second Life.

I enjoyed it, some wonderful builds and the kids builds are simply amazing.
Also enjoyed the RP section, never realized there was so many different RP sims out there. Definitly going to have to check some of them them out.
Should be better in a few days as the crowds dwindle, it was rather laggy in a few sims.

So far, I'm very impressed. I noticed some "meh" stuff and unfinished builds, but, really saw a nice effort. I totally fell in love with the pagoda build on Prim and the Kid's builds were a blast to visit... Especially Loki's story dome! \(^_^)/
The biggest problem I had was if I were within 500meters of the music stage. Walking became near impossible there, but, that's to be expected. (=_=)
So far, I had a blast walking around seeing all the stuff and saying "hi" to the random people around. (^_^)y

SLB5 is a great showcase of the creativity alive in SL - some of the builds are amazing. There is so much to see. I just wish there was some kind of exhibition listing for each sim and an events listing. It would be nice to know what was going on when and where. I think I would get even more out of the exhibits if it wasn't so laggy and grey. One exhibitor I spoke to had to wait and hour to see one of her textures...If LL could sort out the lag it would be even more awesome. Maybe they can get it together for next year... Inspite of that SLB5 is worth the visit. Hats off to all who have taken part

I had a few lag related issues. Mostly lag walking and such. Worst was when I went to my build... and it wasn't there. The prims which had just been there moments before were not visible at all. My whole interface died shortly thereafter, with chat text going invisible as well. A relog fixed this. The best moment, for me, waswhen I came across Teagan Linden at the main stage. Teagan was in a chibi kid avvie with a unicorn outfit. I suggested she take herself (and that avvie) and visit Kids5B. She was reluctant, unsure how much Kids5B would want a Linden about (I assure her that, really, only one Linden might face troubles there, and she wasn't the one). Shortly after she hit Kids5B, Immy lemme (and a few bajillion other people) know, and we posed for piccies. So much for Teagan facin' any troubles from alla us. Teagan said we was awesome, an we are. Pics or it did't happen? Gotcha covered. http://sluniverse.com/pics/pic.aspx?id=286322There's more on my Snapzilla stream, but this is prob'ky the best group shot from SL5B. Teagan Linden is the one in the middle. Anyway, SL5B. Ya, it's got some great spots. Loki's build, Greenies, an the Tinies section are the ones dat most come to mind.

I still do not think it is too late to make this happen - but the organizers will not even consider it. So we lag on with overlapping events on the same sim, un-scheduled activities popping up and Disneyland like chaos. EXHIBITORS: Make a post in events about your exhibit and the upcoming events on your parcel. Make sure that 'SL5B' is in the title of your post so people canuse that term when they serach for our events. .

Yup. Loki's build is amazing. Mari has a nice little snapshot display as well. And....you get a free badge. I didn't get to look at very much last night, but I did do that. And ride the waterslide at Kids5B Last night was the first time that I ran around in a kid avatar, and I'm happy to say that I had a wonderful time.

i spent some time last night looking around SL5B. starting off somewhere in the water under the asian cultures area i made my way north 4 sims, east one sim (educational sim) and then back down 4 sims. hopefully i'll get to see the rest of the sims tonight. being in a totally different time zone lag was not to bad (late night/very early morning SLT) once i got to the actuall birthday sim it was like walking through molassis but a quick re-log, a trip back home to grab a contribution to the time capsual and everything had cleared up. traveling around i noticed alot of builds that looked like stores or houses and quite a few with an over use of the glow feature. Reminded me of mainland and have no idea why they were there, these exhibits i didn't look twice at. There were some really great builds around tho, the asian cultures area was really nice i loved the boardwalks and rickshaws. greenies, as always, was a load of fun along with the tinies area across the road. I met a nice lady who was doing security in a chapel i happened across and sat there for quite some time chatting and listening to the music. the educational sim had some of the most spectacular sculpts i have ever seen there were also some great sculpts on the sculpty sim. not much else, i got a nipple hat and had a giggle at the lindens dressed as babies on one exhibit. oh another exhibit that comes to mind was a furry one with a giant fur holding up the building, i thought that was very cool. Also spent a bit of time at the caledon exhibit which is understandable for me the tiny houses hidden in the trees there were nicely done. anyway i'm rambling and it's time for Morning tea. i had fun there, it could have been organised better and probably some exhibiters needed more time to build. good over all tho -Crunch

. As an FYI, unfortunately my SL5B parcel does not show up on the parcel choices on the events creation page. It is apparently some sort bug, or so I was told, and others have the same issue. So a master listing of events and such would be a godsend.
