Okay... as some of you may be aware of, I am moving my businesses to a new parcel, mainland property. 35000 sqm of it, giving my a little bit over 8000 prims.
Now here is the thing: Probably I hardly use half of those. The space is needed more then the prims. At this moment I have still about 5000 prims left, when I am done setting up, probably still 4000. Nice to have spare prims, but this is somehow ridiculous.
The issue though, that renting out those prims does not seem useful. I mean... how much land is there for rent? Plus I could never provide individual parcel streams, neither land descriptions for search (use those myself of course). So who would rent those prims anyway?
Funny is, that the parcel next to mine is for sale at 350K. over 11 linden per sqm. If they eventually choke on their tier (its not owned by a land baron), and abandon it, I would request to buy it from LL, simply to have the entire sim, so I can spread out even more. But again, no need at all for the prims, just the space.
Bottomline: how could I best use these prims, or should I simply keep them unused?

You could rent out sky boxes. Or offer them for free to friends. You could build your store up in the sky and then make the ground level a nice park or forest.

Open up a Medium Prim department?

Rez all your hair.
Wouldn't you be better off with a Homestead or Openspace?

Well my shops are now on a rented homestead, and I want to move over to mainland. Simply because then the land is all mine, and the price per prim is of course better. What I have now, is on ground level my plants store. 2 floors even, so the equivalent of a full sim. My furniture store is up in the sky. Skyboxes I have done in the past, but hardly any rented out. There are people much better in skybox rentals then I am, I suppose Most of my time (if not all) is for business anyway. For enjoyment I plan to build a 1/2 sim platform with some nice landscaping, but even then. Well, I might just do nothing with them and enjoy the idea of having them LOL

This is what you get for making all that low prim furniture. Serves you right, I say.
If you have waterfront, open a marina and rent slips. Boats are primmy buggers, and they'll eat up your reserves fast.
Make a park. Lots of plants, and rocks, and grass, and trees. That'll eat up prims, too.
The skybox idea's good too. If you don't want to manage them yourself, find a manager and let her have a good share of the rental income.

Someone gave me a good idea too. What about building platforms to rent out? Like a sandbox, but without the return of objects. Lets say 1/16 sim in size, security orb against nosy people, and for example 300 prims to play with. Will think that one over as well. And indeed Lindal, serves me right 1 prim plants, low prim furniture, not the best ways to get rid of my prim reserves!!

/me is not sympathetic to your predicament How about renting out store space for a business that would complement yours such as skyboxes and homes? You could furnish and landscape them with your products, generate a bit of extra income and draw traffic to your land. Might be something to consider.

You could rent tier to a land baron. Elanthius recently pulled out of that business, but there are probably others out there who would pay you for your unused tier.

He'd have to give up the land to free up the tier to be able to do that. He needs the land space, just not the prims.

I just paid him for my tier rental this morning. Can't see this being a solution for the OP as he wants all his land for the space.

Here's one thing I'd like to do someday in SL: Curated sculpture garden. I'd love to get a good-sized but not immense parcel, maybe 8K, and terraform it as pleasant rolling landscape, with as many nooks and crannies as I could fit in, and a small pond for reflections. Then make a modern sculpture garden, one piece from each artist, emphasis on new artists and kinetic art, though stunning static pieces most welcome as well. They could set them for sale if they liked. I see the build having a ramp or cool elevator up to a low 2nd level, that is visually integrated with the ground build. The site would include a crumbling classic pavilion, where smaller pieces would be displayed.
A primtastic place!

A primtastic place! Then, when you have found the shrubbery, you must place it here beside this shrubbery, only slightly higher so you get a two-level effect with a little path running down the middle.

perhaps a meadow with a few trees, some wildflowers, and picnic areas. Just cause you have the prims doesn't mean you have to use them!

Skyboxes furnished with your creations sounds groovy, and Lindal has a good idea of hiring a manager if you don't want the hastle. Turn a sky base waaaaaay up in the sky into an idyllic hideaway - people could visit it and your shop at the same time, with that amount of prims you could make somewhere absolutely wonderful!

Yeppers - as posted above ..
Landscape the area around your place to make it attractive to shoppers and maybe cordon off a little rezzing space.

Seriously?
Don't rez anything. Unrezzed prims translate to less rendering lag.
