Hi, is there a way to hide my profile from anyone other than friends?

I don't think so. You can leave it blank but I don't think you can restrict anyone from seeing it.

In your profile, there's a box you can uncheck (Show in Search) which is supposed to deliver a 'None Found' result to searchers. However, it seems not to have been working since - oh, forever! I've just unfriended my alt and tried it, but it appears it's still not functioning as it should

That checkbox is really for the new search (it used to be called "publish on web" or something like that). And even there it doesn't entirely exclude you from search, there can still be a link to your profile, just the HTML version will be skipped.

This will remove your profile only from "Search All" and google. It won't remove it from the Search People tab (although presumably that and the other older tabs will be disappearing in some future version of the client).

That box only keeps it from being web-searchable.

I hope that does not happen very soon as there are still groups that I cannot ever find in that new 'all' search but they still show in the old 'group' tab.

Deviant behavior is much more fun when you do it with others out in the open - you get the added shock factor from the non-deviants.

Maybe you just need some help with that.

I'd turn the question around: Why would you want to hide your profile from everyone except your friends?

Your profile is your public "curriculum vitae"...the things you WANT everyone to know about you on first meeting.

It's your profile that lets a stranger know that you might possibly be Friend material in the first place.

If there is stuff in yours that you only want your close friends to know...take it out, and tell people about that stuff after they get to BE close friends!

eh No, I don't walk around w/ a billboard "About me" irl or have my phn #s listed
...most of the ppls you'd want if they read your profile don't & the ones you don't *coff stalker issues* do. I don't post pics of inword everyday friends or diff home addys anymore.

I was recently asked if I was a deviant or a pervert and I wasn't sure.

Sort of back on topic; You can set groups not to show up in your profile to people who are not members of that group.

Just tested this in 1.19.0.5, 1.19.1.4 and 1.20 RC10 and it worked fine for me.

Wow, if that was a viewer issue... well, it wouldn't say much for the future of that feature

I just tested with a friend and the server didn't even send me a group he had hidden, so so far it seems impossible that a viewer could muck it up.

If there is stuff in yours that you only want your close friends to know...take it out, and tell people about that stuff after they get to BE close friends!
