How can I make my sim a beach? RAW?

I just recently bought a sim and had it moved to the middle of the ocean.
Now, Im a total noob when it comes to land owning, and all that jazz. I know you can take a RAW file and terraform your land? Am I right in assuming this?
Anyway, what I'd like to know is where can I find a RAW of just beach at the edges..I've tried terraforming, and well, it doesnt come out looking like beach. I know I can texture with sand on the estate profile, but I guess Im talking about the terraforming.
I guess what I'm trying to say is, I'd like to have one side of my sim look like beach...kind of like this pic, without the fat guy.

You can cheat and look them up on XStreet, Raw Terrain files.
Insta land, most don't come with terrain textures, some do.
Save it, trim, tweak what you do or don't like, any probs revert.
I bought a really nice one for my open sim WHEN I HAD ONE ...because no one in the group could agree as how to make it, but could on a terrain file.

There are terrain, landscaping ppls who do magic w/ sims!

Yes, I did see some on xstreet, but most were things like heart shaped islands and wierd stuff. Can you modify them, then? Forgive me, I have no clue how to use them. Im just used to terraforming myself.

Yes you can mod them, there are very nice ones, besides the themey, symbol ones, just have to browse. You apply it, save it, then terraform, tweak what you want. Any "eh that didn't look good", revert it back to the save.
Shameless plug, check out Robin Lobos place, Nanogunk too for really nice beach atmo needed things too! I love her palm trees!
Try to catch the maker inworld, otherwise they just email you the terrain file, also you can ask them stuff.

I prefer creating myself with the terraform tools and textures.

Recently moved to a new one (I rent due to tax regulations here) and was basicly flat grassland with only one texture.

One week later this is the end result:

RAW files are good for a startingpoint, but to get it exactly as you wish, editing yourself is better. Besides RAW files don't do ground textures as far as I know

Ohh..i will check out Robin's place then! Also..I guess the most important question, I forgot to ask..once I apply this, what will it do to all the buildings, stores, and my renters stuff..I sure would hate to have it sucked into the middle of the ocean...lol :D

Wow, Benski..that is really lovely! But, Im really looking for more of a sloping beach..like the pic...and really only on one side..since the other side has renters...if it can be done! I tried sloping the beach myself..but it just ended up with more of a cliff..kind of like yours..if you know what I mean :)

Only worry is if it raises the ground too high, things go "offworld" and get returned

I agree Benski, but after 2 months of 3 ppls changing the terrain every other day, it was an easy solution and came out quite nice, and I mentioned you don't always get the ground textures always, thank you, maybe I didn't word it well.
It was fun to be unlimited playing ...learning about terrain tools having only delt w/ mainland.

Right, I'd rather do it with someone else's if I could, since I really dont know what Im doing. I really suck at bulldozing the land..and you're right..it IS fun to play around with it..it's like playing GOD..muwahahahah

Got a beach part, the treehouse blocks the view, that has beach.
What I do, I lower the land just above the water and then flatten it, then use the flatten tool to "draw the line" and then smooth it later.

a RAW file can indeed be a fast way, and correct me if I am wrong, but a full estate owner can save the current terrain as RAW? to make sure you can revert it once you are happy with your work?

A RAW file however does indeed do a whole sim, if the changes are not too drastic, just a bit editing at the places where the renters are shouldn't be a problem.

I dont know if I can save the current terrain as a RAW, because I'm petrified to do anything!
I did change the terrain textures..played with those for hours..im sure the people on the sim were wondering if they were on an acid trip that day...but your idea of flattening, I'll try that!

Hey, Im just a clothing designer, what do I know about building islands...giggles

Hehe I build houses and not sims too :D

Treehouse and boat are not my work, the pyramid, palace on the right and the building with 2 towers behind there are.

In the beginning I was looking for a RAW file too, since the sim owner could load it for me, but I could not find something to my likings.

This is actually design nr3 I made and works best for me.
I have this place now little over a week though.

I got hooked on the groundediting stuff :D

As for the ground editing and the textures, yes. The buildings I already had. The pyramid is a store from a friend of mine that does tails and stuff, she wanted that build and slightly modded it, the one with the towers, same story, only it's the store of my RL sister.

The palace, well that is my rezzvendor with my latest rezzed. :D

The technique I developed for land editing really makes me able to work fast.
What I do first:

the sim was flat, totally flat. So I selected the whole land and lowered it under water.
Then selected a tiny parcel, and raised that above water.
Then used the bulldozer on max strength with the flatten tool, starting at the little parcel, so that became the reference from where to flatten.
Then it was a matter of drawing out where I wanted land.

After, selected the smoothen tool and used around the edges to smoothen it out and not have vertical drops in the land.

Same with the slightly higher parts, and with the mountains.
I found this way, works good for me, and is like drawing land where you want land.

(offcourse you can also start with flat land and then 'draw' the water where you want it with lowering a parcel and work from there with flatten tool)

Yes, my parcel is totally flat too...kind of boring like that..my water level must be set different or something, when i tried to lower the land below the water, i had a wall where the Linden ocean was..dont know if you know what I mean..but I couldnt get it to look like beach..

water level in estate tools 'should' be 20 by default to fit the linden ocean.

world - region/estate
Then the tab "terrain"

left top says water height, put it on 20 and it should be equal to the linden ocean

This is a few shots of the partly beach I have on my island:

Up front:

Shot from the side to show the little difference between water and land:

Underwater view with the simborder visible:

Is this what you roughly had in mind as for a sloap from sand into water?
