Sculpties are total Garbage for anything structural or decorative, no matter how well you are at making them. To me they look ghetto at all times. The whole idea of allowing them was a mistake. They should have added some kind of polygon prim type instead where you can do in world extrusions with edge smoothing or some hocus pocus like that.

I keep seeing these horrid looking Sculpty Doors for sale that look like a 3 year old made out of moldy toy wood blocks. Yet people seem to love them sooo very much .. for 1200 L

I might need to raise my prices ...

The sculptie is a harsh mistress, indeed. It is challenging to make asculptie look pleasing. I have found as a creator and seller of sculpties is that the in-world shading is uglifying. I can do nice lighting bakes in Zbrush. In-world I turn full bright on to temporarily eliminate those nasty shadow so I can check and fine tune my bake. My sculpties are a whole lot prettier at full bright. *wistful sigh*

was trying to think of a tactful way to say, those who charge more than even 250 for a single pair of shoes are greedy bastards!

but I could not think of a tactful way to say it, so I didn't

Depends on the shoes. I sell sneakers for $500 a pair, but they're texture changing so you're really getting 8 pairs of shoes in one. I could have sold them individually for $100 per texture, but is that really a better deal? I think not. People are odd about prices in SL. They'll balk at paying $2usd for something that took 20-40 hours to create but won't hesitate to buy a $4 latte that took 60 seconds. It's bizarre.

QFT!

The most I charge is L$300 for limited edition boots in my Lil Fox store. Those are restricted to only ten pairs in each colour, so I think it's justified, and so do my customers! ALL Baby Monkey Shoes are L$50 a pair, and fat packs of 10 are L$400

I've looked up close at some incredibly expensive shoes in sl, and you know what? The build quality was horrible, with gaps where there should not be, bits sticking through when they shouldn't and some very dodgy assembly in general!

I also use regular prims for all the elements that would be sharply geometrical in RL.

I find the biggest problems with sculpties, is the lack of imagination. After looking around for new furniture, over the past two weeks, 90% of furniture looks the same. Same shapes, same textures.

I am curious Butch, what kinds of searches did you do? I am looking for ways to improve advertising results.
