Thanks very much Mickey and happy Xmas....

I think the easiest would be the way one very helpful entrepreneur suggested to me earlier today... for salespeople to offer items for xmas gifts as 'one off' transferable goods..... that way I can see the look of delight on my gf's face as she has her goodies there and then.

( I really hope she likes the giant space battle cruiser I'm getting her :D )

wicked sniggers !!!!

/me sighs and drops the ban lines so Maelstrom's gf won't have issues.......(laughing, just kiddin Maelstrom. Have a blessed and peaceful Christmas)

Electic had the golden idea, offering both transfer and no transfer items, and then even providing the lucky gift receiver with a copy version. Now, why can't we clone you, I wish all merchants could do this! It is something special to meet someone, hug them and then drop them a gift. You can't replace that feeling

That is the optimal choice, but speaking for myself, I can't afford a system like that, plus most of my items are home furnishings that people want to see. The other problem I run into are prims.

I feel a bit "damned if I do", "damned if I don't." I have always offered my items mod/transfer because those are the permissions I prefer and when an item has no further use to the owner, owner can gift it, sell it, whatever. (I can see the advantage with avatar clothing and accessories to be copy for multiple outfits...but that's not what I sell.)

Then about a month ago or so, there was a thread here on permissions and pretty much everyone wanted mod/copy, with one person stating they absolutely would never purchase anything that wasn't copy.

I left that thread thinking, ok, that's what customers apparently want. I changed all my permissions to mod/copy. I put a sign in my shop to contact me if a transferable copy is preferred as well as stating on the group notifications I sent out that the items could be gifted from Xstreet or to contact me.

*sighs*

I think I'll just do what I want from now on. :(

Definitely. The way I see it is that nobody is even going to be able to please the *majority*, so simply do what seems right to your own way of thinking.

For my own personal stuff, I shop a lot at Eclectic because my preference is Transfer on clothing and very few stores offer that.

I really like Eclectic's idea for giving a Transfer item that includes a special notecard/object that can be exchanged for a Copy version. Worst case, if it is scammed, is that someone gives away the Transfer item, and keeps and uses the special object that will get them a Copy version.

Ohhh no to recieve the copy version they must return everything in the folder including the actual item. This would ensure the merhant isnt scammed by themgetting both a no transfer and no copy item, but would alow the person to 'swap out' for a copy version.

I actually think i shall impliment thisin my own store! I like the idea as an opion for peopel to not only give gifts but for the repicient to be able to hae copy perms if they prefer.

Marianne you dont want more han one of me... i ave been told any times one of me is mor than scary enough;)
