From: Bunni Menizah So last night, (before naughty deviant pictures), and during inputting mountains of data entry, I met my first Linden who walked me through a brief problem I was having with land.
She was a bot of some sort, and to be honest, she FREAKED me out. She was creepy in her little head moving bot way. Too much like an alien or something....
/me shakes off the willys.
Do they all look like that? If so, I will not be doing Live Chat again. Eep. No, they don't all look like that. But a larger percentage of the Lindens than the general population seem to favor non-animate avatars (that is, something other than humans or furries or realistic animals), especially the developers and other technical types - perhaps because their focus is on exploring what is possible.

I met my first Linden before I even knew who Lindens were... I got onto the Linden Train at Calleta and there was a blue guy in a rainbow colored outfit riding with me. As the train careened down the tracks, frequently derailing and driving through landmasses, I commented on how busted and useless it was...turns out my fellow passenger was the Linden who'd designed the train system. OOPS. (I can't remember his name now)

OOPS. (I can't remember his name now) Nigel? He created the original SLRR system. The new SLRR is comin' along nicely, as far as the train scripts go. I came upon the green test unit on the main line the other night. Moles are putting in long hours getting it right.

wow, I think i need to get around SL more often. O.O;
Heh, i feel so left out half the time re3ading these things and it wasn't till half-way through this thread i figured out what the heck you guys meant by Lindens...talk about behind in my times.
P.S. It's hints like these that make me miss my good computer which i played with T-T, and my internet while im at it.
P.S.S. Public library computers suck...they wont let me download the client... -_-

From: Marianne McCann But some of 'em do know how to party! I would rather just sit one and one, and chat and get to know the person, as apposed to "partying" with them, with a crowd, and not really get to know them. they are not objects, or things that we can say oh look what I have they are people, just like the rest of us, and I like to get to know the person, and well, let's just say my results from getting to know the person has resulted in making some sweet friends, whom, when I sit and chat, we both just set aside the fact they are an employee (much easier when they are off the clock and come on their alt, which granted is not often, cuz after working in SL all day, they go to RL to get away from work LOL) but it is nice when we do get a few moments to sit and talk about whatever comes up

I really have never understood what the big deal is about meeting a "linden" as far as them being an employee
it is not like... oh I went to walmart and omg I saw a greeter and we got to chatting, and they were very nice... you never hear about people meeting other employees of other workplaces do you?
(sorry it is almost like folks put lindens on a pedestal, and worship them, which is so wrong, because when things go wrong, suddenly the pedestal is broken and people realize their "god" can not do everything.)

I agree. They are just employees of LL.. Than again I have never been one to get giddy over meeting anyone "famous".

I guess that's the thing, for me. I got to know a lot of them over time, mainly growing out of knowing GTeamers while ironing out stuff with kid avatars, coupled with knowing a couple folks at the RL lab from time before there was a Linden Lab. So I end up looking at it differently, I guess. A lot of 'em are people I know, jes like other Residents I know. I already known 'em one on one. From: someone (much easier when they are off the clock and come on their alt, which granted is not often, cuz after working in SL all day, they go to RL to get away from work LOL) Oddly enough, a lot of 'em do come into SL in their alts in the off hours. I know a few who do their off hours in their Linden avvie, which too me is jes askin' for trouble.

Than again I have never been one to get giddy over meeting anyone "famous". yep same here, I am definitely not a movie star fan, or anything like that hehe reminds me of when they were filming the scarlet letter with Demi Moore (many years ago...), it was filmed near where I used to live and Demi and Bruce lived in the area during filming. well part of the film was done where my dad has his camp, the owner of the land said that they could film as long as my dad could still be there, they said ok (he got some cool behind the scenes footage with his own cam though hehe) anywho he would hang out with Demi between shoots, and they chatted a lot, and she wanted to meet his kids, when he asked me to drive the 2 hours just to meet her, I said if she wants to meet me that bad, she can come here (she didn't LOL) (if it had been the regular time I drove down to visit dad, that would have been fine, but this was the middle of the week and I worked weird hours, no way was I gonna go out of my way, just to meet someone, who was not even a relative, sheesh) I do not regret it at all. I did go to the set one day (not the one where my dad camped) the one in the town of Shelburne, it was kinda neat to walk through and see how fake it all was (that part of movies I would be a bit fanatic about, the sets, the special effects, etc) heh anywho... yeah, lindens, I like the ones I know.. that is good enough for me
