Hi all,
New to the forums but love your advice and knowledge. I am on sick leave so am in SL during (my) day time which is unusual for me. Today I have crashed at LEAST 20 times in an hour...at least. I was shopping and wherever I go, every time I right click over an item to see the price, SL just shuts down immediately. Now even if I move the cursor over items, I'm logged out. Also, if I use the arrow keys to turn left/right, down it goes. I have never crashed so much as I have in the last few weeks in the entire time I have been in SL. I know everyone is in the same boat, but it is seriously impacting on the enjoyment I used to feel being here. I now have a job in SL and cannot rely on doing any of the tasks I should be doing. I have developed a real appreciation at the annoyance felt by land/business owners, builders, traders, employees...you must be all pulling your hair out.

I have spent a lot of money and expended a lot of effort on my av to become a SL model but every time I seem to have a job to recoup some of it, its all so unstable that I just can't fulfill my obligations.

I am obviously repeating the sentiments of many here, but geez it's got so, so much worse. I did need that vent...thanks.

Am I the only one crashing every time they blink???????

Hi Chalice, welcome to the forums :)

Perhaps, if you posted the viewer version number you are using and some info on your hardware (video card make/model, OS, how much RAM, processor), someone with some knowledge of such things may be able to recommend possible fixes for your crashing.

Thanks Kathy - great idea.

I am running SL 1.20.2 (85278). My computer is an Intel(R) 2 cpo 6700@ 2.66GHz (2.66 GHz 0.98 of RAM). My video card is GeForce 7600GT 256MB version 84.21). I have ADSL and the speed is 1500.

I just had a thought and please excuse the fact that I am really clueless in respect to this stuff, but could I uninstall SL from my computer and then reinstall it again. Would I lose all my inventory etc.? My computer should definitely handle SL and has up until fairly recently. I just wonder why I keep crashing. Since my initial post, I have crashed about 6 more times.

Help!!!!! please :-)

ok, 1.20.2 is test software and I even had to give up on it because it crashes so often. Perhaps you should opt for the current standard viewer 1.19.1.4 available here:

ETA: Uninstalling will not bother your inventory as that is stored on the servers, not your local PC.

you will not lose the inventory and such as it is stored on the SL servers, not on your PC harddrive so yes it is safe to reinstall

I am using the 1.19.1(4) server and have experienced very very few crashes
and the ones I do experience are generally caused by something I did.

maybe try switching back to that one

edited too add, oops LOL I was one minute too slow

It worked....it worked. I haven't been cut off. I have had so many problems in 1.20.2 with clothes not attaching and crashing all the time. I wish I'd made the connection but I'm learning. Thank you SO SO SO much for getting me back to where I was before all the problems. Yay for you.

HI Chalice,

Try looking at my reply to;

/327/d7/254589/1.html

I had similar issues 1.20.2 was totally unusable for me.

I changed my video driver and it now runs beautifully

Might well be worth the try..

Cheers, Mya
