Gift cards in my lucky chair

So, I'd be interested in what people think:
- Should I stop giving away gift cards?
- Should I switch to items only in the chairs?
- Should I take out the lucky chairs and not give items away anymore?
- Does it make sense to combine free gift cards (practical or not)?

Thanks for your time in reading through that - I appreciate it

Hi Popfuzz.

Don't take away the chairs and the station, that draws many, many people to your mall and shops. Including me - I would never have heard of you at all if you hadn't had the Lucky Chair station set up.

I've won a good number of your gift cards, even managing to score one of the coveted $100L ones. I used them on eyes mainly. :) (I usually need more eyes for -something-) and on an outfit I wanted where I paid the balance. When I ran out of things *I* personally wanted, I started giving them to friends with a Landmark, as I have a lot of friends who'd love exactly the kind of clothing you sell.

While I'd be overjoyed to be able to combine gift cards, that would be an enormous pain for you, and thus not really feasable. You're giving them out *for free*, you aren't obligated to offer us sandwiches and a foot massage too.

Maybe put up a sign explaining that gift cards do not combine, and if you don't want to handle that, please don't sit in the chairs that have the gift cards.

Some people really have to get over that terrible sense of entitlement they seem to be afflicted with.

Suggestion tho, maybe out a raffle ball at the Lucky Chair station or up in the space station, and have it give away a gift card for 'one free item' every hour or so? I think if word got around that'd be a draw.

popfuzz i have some unused $25 coupons and wish i could combine them. or even 'buy up' on the value of the card. i think that would be a sweet spot to hit. i really like hairs but your $25 hairs are resellers that i already have (from lucky chairs ironically).

but it never occurred to me that you might be evil or greedy. ive just assumed this was the case due to some limitation of the system. surely youve considered the benefits of allowing me to add $75 to the coupon and buy a $100 item.

Hey Nina,
The gift cards can be used on any item, so it you would like to use a $25 card on a $100 item then you first use the card and then the new price of $75 will be listed when you go to pay for the item. So the system already lets you do that. I will even let you combine multiple cards for up to 50% of the value. So for that same $100 item you can give me $50L and 2 $25 cards and its yours.

Feel free to IM me in game if you have any questions :)

Today was the first time I ever went into Popfuzz's (man that's a tongue-twister!) store and I was impressed with everything there! I know I know, I should have known about this place sooner, but I have been busy with other projects, unfortunately shopping (for a SHORT amount of time) went on the backburner.

I absolutely LOVE everything in the store and will be dropping MAJOR Lindens there. Everyone I met and talked to (customers) were friendly and even fun. I won a few gift cards and will be using them.

Don't get rid of the chairs...for those who are a little on the slow side...I would put up a HUGE sign explaining the rules about the gift cards so that there is NO WAY someone can dispute them. Don't let one bad apple spoil the bunch.

I have told many, MANY people on my friends list to shop there and I will be heading over there today to spend spend spend! You can tell that Popfuzz loves what she does; people who truly love what they do aren't always in it for the money! Great store Popfuzz and thanks for bringing your fashions, kindness, and creativity to SL. :)

Popfuzz? Greedy? Hell, she'll shoot ya' while yer laggin for a couple hundred points. :P

but that was Smokin' Aces. and that was the name of the game. And was how I met Popfuzz.

Outside games where you are supposed to shoot people, she's one of the most level headed proprietors I've run across, and runs her business very well.

The information about the gift cards is clearly posted above the chairs they are found in.

Bottom line: Elissa Bristol (now re-incarnated in another alt) is a high school brat who is out looking for a way to abuse the system for his/her own advantage. From the way she is acting in the conversations I've seen, she knows exactly what she is doing, and she's throwing a temper tantrum because the store owner didn't instantly cave in.

I strongly suggest that this user and any of his/her alts be banned without question from the store/location of anyone who wants to continue to have gift certificates, etc. And since she's back already with an alt, it's clear she's not going to just give up.

The sign on the wall is quite clear Elissa, but maybe you are one of those kids that graduates high school these days without the ability to read. It sure seems like it.

I'd IM you, but you don't have that enabled on the forums here.

Popfuzz.. what system do you use for your gift cards? are you using some kind of self made system, hand processing each one? or is there a "packaged system" you are using?

I really like this idea, and as I am actually MAKING MY OWN lucky chair... I am very interested to learn how you accomplished this gift card process.

I checked out your store the other day after reading this (how's that for backfiring on your critic) and I love the way that you have it setup.

I've been speaking with Poppy regarding this topic this afternoon, and that girl has turned Stalker.

She hounds poor Poppy; she thinks she's right and threatens to come back on alts. When Pop doesn't give her the attention she craves, she throws a tantrum.

This is quickly going into creepy-ville.

giftcards are wonderful and a good way to bring repeat buyers back in your store. But some offering gift cards........OMG take about greedy Cheap ( BEEP ).

Pop is offering to people the abilty to get something one might not otehrwise beable to offered. The kindness out of her and some people hearts.

But to some just another form of "GIVE ME GIVE ME GIVEME" Then to those greedy Owners another way to fool people to believing they giving something to the game.....But really they are only taking more then giving.

Escort Defrage is da man when it comes to scripting.!! :) I should also add that he runs a wonderful mall called Island of Love which worth visiting for the architecture alone!

Hey Poppy, I wouldn't worry about it.....you can always expect one bad apple in a crop!

I rent a vendor Space at PopFuzz's mall and can truely say she has been nothing but accommodating and helpful from Day 1. .......so I was amazed to read this bull from someone that was unsatisfied receiving a gift! Jeeze <rolls eyes>

"Should I stop giving away gift cards? Should I switch to items only in the chairs?"

No! You are not the first person to do the gift card/voucher thing, and probably won't be the last. I recall that "The House of Zen" used to do it some months back, and i thought it was a great idea. They made the cards no copy, transfer ok, so a man could give the gift card to a woman, or vice versa, and thus eliminated the problem of item resale that was plaguing so many merchants. The cards were a great idea then and they are still a good idea now.

"Does it make sense to combine free gift cards (practical or not)?"

I think the problem is semantics, the term "gift card". When a person hears that, they think of the gift cards they can buy in RL at Walmart, etc. Maybe this is what your irate customer thought (i'm not defending her actions)? Think of it this way: You have a RL birthday party and 3 of your family and friends each give you a $20 gift card to Walmart. Walmart won't tell you that you can only use 1 on that visit or 1 per item you purchase.

Perhaps the term "Discount Coupon" might be more appropriate. When a person goes to the grocery store with a coupon, they know up front that it is 1 coupon per item purchased, and that they will have to pay the difference. No ifs, ands, or buts.
