Anyone know of any interesting things to poke over the edge of an island to provide some interest out into the water? I have a lighthouse offset away from the edge - looking for other interesting things to place "off the map" (not waves of course!) which are lowish prim.

yeah I thought about that - have got some, but was hoping there's something out there a bit different that someone wanted to showcase :D ideal plug opportunity for someone maybe?

Go wander around underwater around Nimbus Rau's shop, Metamorphosis. Varied landscape, lots of neat stuff to see and a few things to play with.

I forget the place, wish I remembered, but there was this very nice dock was an "open air" type place with dance floor and small stage area. now the cool part was how it was made look so realistic with the wood supports over the water with the waves splashing against it and when the sun started to set it was one hell of a view during a concert. But he place started on land and went out over the water so standing against the rails at far end you could see the waves coming in and enjoy the sunset (of course with graphics jacked up) was really nice.

I really wish I could remember where it was at but forgot, but something like that may be a neat idea.

do you mean actually off world? as in into the 'void'? i'v seen this done in certain places, i'v always wondered if there would be any lag issues associated with it, especially since most of the things that hang "over the edge" of a sim seem to be sculpted mega prims.

So your final Nimbus Score is 8.15, a quite remarkable achievement for a biped. Congratulations Crunch, you should be very proud. :-)

Thanks guys - it's really more neutral stuff I was looking for rather than a theme, and things not actually accessible - I do have a nice canopy over a walkway from Reflect Your Dreams that I used that way before, might use that again. Thanks Nika, will check that store out now :)

Re the lag issue: it's never caused an issue that I've seen Crunch.

IF a mega is partially off world, it can cause instability issues with the sim it is attached to. Also, but undocumented as of yet, I have seen issues with things such as rafts that have a center box anchoring them - if the floaty goes off world, strange things happen in the sim.

Interesting - will keep an eye out for that sort of thing Talon.

Thanks Nika, ended up with some beautiful foaming waves etc (so much for wanting things offset and no waves). Not cheap but lovely - suspect that the splashing waves etc that Cito mentioned came from this maker. I'm hooked!

Well, if plugs are allowed ;)

At the Hosoi Ichiba we have a few things that could be put out on water - they are mostly asian-themed, though. Torii (the big red asian gate), floating lanterns, and sampans come to mind.

Not sure if that's the sort of thing you are looking for, but the SLURL for the island is http://slurl.com/secondlife/Virgin%20Island/109/105/278/ - more information and pictures are in our blog at http://hosoi-ichiba.blogspot.com/

Good luck on your search!

I like my Aunty Flan's waves, especially the ones I had crashing against my cliffs, with spray and all.

Dolphins, or an orca, or a big old shark are nice water things.

On our current beach, we have a cute harbor seal pup that will follow you around if you feed and pet it. Plus Figgums, a descendant of Ray Figtree's wandering crab.

Near my old island, we had a shipwreck inhabited by a giant octopus.

Analog Dog has their whole store on the water...probably because it's owned by a mermaid. But the floor is pretty unusual...I tend to fly when I visit there, to keep from getting my shoes wet. You could do the same sort of thing with a dance floor...

Before Havok4 I had a rainbow way off out over the water , but since the new Havok I can no longer slide anything off the edge of the sim sadly... :( So the worries over mega prims hanging off the edge may be moot?

I'm waiting to see what's said in the thread about being able to visit overhang prims - I thought this was not possible someone has said that it is ...

So pending that, we'll see :) So far, just lovely foaming waves, a pavillion and a shark.
